Why do the odd crashes always seem to happen on Sunday nights?

There was a corrupt file in the BBS system, and everytime someone tried to read it the system load would spike. Once I got rid of the corrupted file and reindexed everything, the problem went away.

Unless there's something else going on, I think the system has been fixed.

I was actually hoping for more of a paypal kind of thing.

Last time I sent cash via mail, it never got to its destination.

totse.com violates Paypal's Terms of Service. Because of that, if I opened a Paypal account they could turn it off and seize the cash in the account pretty much any time that they wanted to.

Totse always seems to get hacked, the threads, the forums, the IRC etc... Whatever system your running seems to be very easily manipulated and not well secured.. maybe update it??. The system and the Forum software- Maybe use Vbulletin or Invision Board. I'm sure totse users would be willing to help with the upgrade financially if necessary.

Wonderful, In your opinion Jeff, is Totse still fulfilling its original purpose of providing free text files to the public? The frequency of newly added files has dropped and the main things that attract people here are the drug/explosive files.

well on the Something Awful forums, you have to pay a one time fee for access.

well you could do it like that just to trick paypal

make the donation an optional service fee, so that any totse member could sign up for 'special donation access' that doesnt really get you anything--or only gets you some small reward like the PBS people do http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif)--but would be a way to donate money to the site

the reward could actually be a Supporter title where Regular, or Moderator title usually shows...

http://www.neteller.com/ I use it for my poker transactions, seems fast and reliable. I have no set up a direct bank acount with it though (but that is an option).

Whoever said it, I think that selling special titles on eBay would be an excellent idea.

This is the first time I have seen Jeff make informal posts. He seems like a great guy.
