View Full Version : Why try?

People come on here to either say "believe in religion" or to say "god isn't real". Of course we have those who come here seeking enlightenment. My advice to you is search elsewhere.

Those of you who come on here preaching one side or the other obviously come on here to sway those who will listen. Otherwise, why try? What's the point of coming on here and saying "Believe in god" if you don't want people to? Don't lie to yourself. That goes for atheists, too.

I don't know how many of you realize this, but even those seeking enlightenment most likely aren't going to believe what you are saying. What I am saying is that you are wasting your time. You may say that I am wasting my time because you won't listen to me anyways, but I think it would be interesting to hear if anyone has stopped trying thanks to this.

I personally don't believe in god, and I came on here about five minutes ago to post a topic that was going to ask something along the lines of "Why would you believe in something as silly as god?". Of course, this would be mainly for Christians. I realized that nobody would listen to what I had to say, and honestly I decided that I don't want to change anybody's opinion of god. Most people on this board are too fixed one way or another to be swayed. This board is an ongoing argument that will never be settled.

I must admit that some of these things seem interesting, but if you go down the list, topics start repeating.

Religion is sort of a passion of mine, and I think it's quite interesting to see what people have to say, but here it's all the same. I'm going to start to get off topic, so I'm going to end this now.

I argue so I can get a better understanding.

I argue so I can see how people react to my opinion/knowledge.

I argue so as to let others sway my opinions.

I argue, just for the sake of arguing.

Why do you care?

Well, I have to say that I understand Fully that people won't be swayed by my views and that I won't be swayed by theirs - however - I do try to put information in my writeups. I try to get information from the writeups of others. Surely, most people just say their piece, never actually illuminating anything, and end their post. Well, I do my best to put real information in the stuff that I write, and definately, it may sometimes be inaccurate, or I may not be able to find the sources I need to back it up . . . but I try.

Over the years I have encountered many people, both the living and those who have passed over, who rejected the notion of the ian god because of the hell thing. And for sure, no loving god would create such a thing as hell.

As long as I remain active on totse, I shall strive to reassure people that hell is a myth, that god loves and creates, he neither judges nor punishes.

Or as I have said to people in conversations, "The god I know is nothing like the god you don't believe in."

I hate arguing about the existence of God. I come to this forum really to discuss matters with people from the understanding that both of us are aware of god. As Im sure you know and I have said in the past, if it were up to me every queer atheist posting his trite snappy high school bullshit about religion would be locked out without warning.

Not everyone in highschool that doesn't believe in god is full of shit. I would know.
