I have heard many things, both good and bad, about the church of scientology, but very little about the actual religion behind it. Could somebody explain to me the premise and doctrine of L. Ron Hubbard's famous religion?
I heard that one day he said something like "I bet I could make my own religion and get millions of people to join and get rich"
And he did. And that's why we have scientology. (I'm serious)

it's a scam to avoid paying taxes.
How else do you think John Travolta can afford his own jumbo jet?
They donate all their money to the church, and then the church gives most of it back to them.
There's nothing religious about it.

The Church itself is always looking for a handout, but who isn't?
Simply put, Scientology, as a religion, is a group of ever evolving Naturalist theories. Basically atheists who explore answers. Seeing as how nothing can be proved anyways, people are constantly changing their theories.
Scientology, as a religion, unorganized, has existed about 200 years before Darwin. Some think we evolved from eating each other's brains, or that we came from aquatic apes, or that we were servants of dinosaurs, and some think that we are the offspring of extraterrestrials not superior genetically to Western man, and their Martian servants.
Strange indeed.
Personally, I believe a mix of the above.

the following ad was placed in the Boston Globe Classifieds:
CHURCH IS RECRUITING
Low pay, Great future,
improve while you have a
job. Call in person. Church
of Scientology 448 Beacon
St. --- --- ----. Ask for
department One, Personnel.
is this just me or is that kind of sketchy?
okay,
scientology belives in god. they are not searching for answers. it is evolving in the sense that it changes once they realised that "euthinising" disabled people was not acceptable.
scientology has not existed before hubbord did his thing. i would love to know how a religion existed before it was made up.
it is a scam for money, although who wins is something that i am not sure about.
okay, a little while ago, i went to some scientology display, and it was fucking wrong. i got some booklet, about how psychiatry was killing god and destroying familes. they claimed that mental illness does not exist (have these people even met a schizophrenic?) and a wide range of surprising things about the holocaust. there was also a "link" between psychiatry and unmarried mothers. i can't find the book now though, and ive forgotten most of it.
the thing i loved the most though, was a big banner with travoltas face on it with a rainbow in the backround. fucking scary shit.
you can find out alot of shit about them, they have MORE than enough enemys, from every quater of the religious spectrum.

Hubbard was a Crowley friend. He made up his own religion though, instead of pursuing Crowley's kind of scientific religion, he put up a dogma and found disciples, whereas Crowley - and his followers, kept honest with the thing and didn't make it to multi-billionaire cult, thank goodness.
So basically, scientology is based on western magick, but they won't tell you since it is not official. So people really enter magick apprenticeship, but unknowingly. That's where the catch is. Then they are vulnerable and endangered since it is their dogma, they don't have the sane distance an apprentice magician keeps with the learning and practice of research in the magickal arts.
But, I don't know that much about it, it's from data that I learned, and then figured out from the data. Scientologists love people that try and infiltrate them.

For those interested in what Scientology was and is, and perhaps could be...
Here are some truths (plural):
Bare-Faced Messiah, The (allegedly) True Story of L. Ron Hubbard. The complete book and lots of links. (http://www.clambake.org/archive/books/bfm/bfmconte.htm)
Links to documents, that (supposedly)exposes Hubbards lies (http://www.xs4all.nl/~kspaink/cos/LRH-bio/)
Freezone - "alternative" Scientology (http://www.freezone.org/)
Operation Clambake - The Fight Against The Church Of Scientology On The Net (http://www.xenu.net/)
The reason it can be difficult to find alternative information about Scientology when using Google (http://www.operatingthetan.com/google/)

It's not "athiest" because Scientology clearly has a god -- and his name is L. Ron Hubbard. Not only that, answers are not "explored" but actually sold, much like The Church of the SubGenius, which is, of course, in part a parody of Scientology.

Oh yeah, I'm sure L. Ron Hubbard, when he was flying here from Mars on his spacecraft, had some tin-cans and poorly made lie detectors (aka "e-meters") with him 200 years ago. Of course, they'd have a difficult time using them without electrical sockets...

ITS ALL FLASE!
I watched a specail on it, and the got the guys friends saying how he wanted to get some fame so he started a religion.
All these celebs are in it just for the attention. Its just crap, you have to be dumb. Ya much of the things are true, but i dont think decaring a boundriouse religion makes it easier.
I took that grueling scientology evaluation online about a year ago. I rated extremely high in all areas (according to their ideals) except for one. Apparently, I lack the ability, or motivation, to force (or coerce) others to believe me when I "know" I'm right. It seems that scientologist do not care for agnostics. Fucking morons...

my dad works for the LA department of water and power, and it seems that the scientology building in hollywood wasent paying their bills, so my dad got to shut off their power and water for a week.
