I think Theirs such thing as god but not religion
My reason is...
Why would a god of infinate possibilities create a confining religion that tells you what to believe. Christianity to my belief is a succeful cult that has work its way into a socail exeptance. God created love and everything we know and the negetive energys as well. But why would he send his creatins with only one chance to hell if he has so much love. i dont think its possible. Jesus tried explaining the mysteries of spirtuality to 12 idiots (cant even read) i meen its just how they interpreted it, they didnt understand what he was saying, couldnt grasp the concepts in their time. On top of that their poor interperatation was interpreted again by more idiots into scrolls 200 years after jeus died, then again into a bible years later, then again into an english bible, then again to the king james.
Im sorry but the sources are unrealable. (cp)

Those are just a few of many reasons why I feel that the vast majority of modern-day religions are false.
They seek to portray humans as lesser beings, unworthy of anything and in need of rescue from themselves. The religion possesses the avenue for this rescue, and thus, the believer is subjugated by the belief and manipulated by its figureheads.
Religions that don't seek to enslave the mind and use people as assets I can respect, such as various forms of Taoism and Buddhism.

i agree.
Religion is a confining box of guidance. We seem to feel that sine we cant figure it out ourselves we must depend on another to do it for us.
I believe the only way is figure it out yourslef w/o any bible

Yeah. That's another thing I never got.
Humans, by their inquisitive nature, are naturally explorers. That doesn't fit at all with all the answers to the universe being contained within a little black book that gets spoonfed to you in easy to digest, pre-rationalized bites that you don't even have to think about becasue the thinking has been done for you in advance.
You would think that everyone would come to the god(s), if they exist, through their own individual methods and there would not be a prohibitive, restrictive, processed, and monopolized method which is the only way and all other ways wouldn't be tolerated.

Magneto, all along i thought of you as an idiot. Sorry for my thoughts. You are an intelligant person i believe.
I dont understand the concept... People go to church all the time, but do they go for god? No. they go for the socail stauts. I meen if they say god is everywere, what makes a corrupted cult house any more signifigant? I meen thats the last place i would be, learning about spirituality in a boring manner.
The people who say they go to church are regarded as good people thats why they go.

Alot of people go to church because of routine and tradition. I think the movie Dogma covered much of this.
You know in the beginning where Bethany is in Church, with no effort whatsoever, saying "Hail Mary, full of grace, yadda yadda.." in a monotone voice and couldn't care less about what she was doing? She said going to church gives her time to balance her checkbook. Then later on Bartleby says "See? That's what I mean. People don't go to church to feel spiritual. They go to Church and feel bored".
It's obligatory. Hardly anyone goes to church because they really want to or because it's something they really are intent on doing, rather, because they feel a duty to go to church or others expect them to. It turns what should be a religious experience into a weekly chore that people just grit their teeth, bite down, and get over with.
Now Dogma was just a movie, but many of the aspects of it still ring true to this day. If people didn't give a shit about what other people thought about them and didn't feel obligated to do something to maintain some kind of image or status, you would see the number of people that go to church every Sunday drop dramastically.

i feel religion is bull shit becuase certain parts of the bible contradict others such as their can be no idol yet we idolize a specific veiw of god or jesus, two their can be no specific place to meet to worship becuase god is everywhere not just in a church "everywhere"

magneto,
dogma was about the catholic church just to let you know. One of the reasons people/catholics are like that is because you dont have to actually live like a christian. For example catholics can ask for forgiveness for something there going to do before they do it.
Just to flame a little more, alot of people think that all christians are catholics and believe the same, and that is simply not true.

You really need to read the bible or at least know something about christianity before you bash it. The bible says no idols BEFORE me. It s on of the ten commandments for fucks sake. Damn dude please shut up. and as for church is bad because god is everywhere (god your a dumbass) the whole point of church is for followers to get together and worship with each other.
God your a fucking retard

For a people who believe God has to forgive their sins, saying, "God forgive what I must do," sounds perfectly natural. What the hell is wrong with that?

nothing wrong, just a spiritual platue.
If it helps them in spirituality, then maybe it helps. I think asking god for forgiveness isnt going to help cuz i believe earth is a lesson and sin is a tool.

bigtmoney,
you seem to have a problem with kids. Try not to get pissed off, they haven't had as much time to learn and figure things out as you have. Just try to help him out.
I don't understand how people ignore Jesus saying, "Ye are Gods," and "you will do these things and greater things." We still see ourselves as completely powerless yet we have been told we have power.

Saying that there is a way, but only one way, and that way is through our menacing pantheon of evil, no less, is an artificial limitation of the gods divine mercy.

...what?

In short, theistic organized belief systems generally take god, put it in a box, and say you'll gt the key if you do what they would have you do.
