View Full Version : What is wrong?

I am trying to write an essay about how things today are wrong. This is not for any particular reason other than I have the incredible sense that something is wrong. I would like to hear what people of the earth feel about this subject. I want to hear both sides of the argument, both pro and con. Anyone who wishes is welcome to respond. I am eager to hear what people think.

DuctTape!

I did, in a sense, reply to a couple of similar questions a while ago, in this thread (http://www.totse.com/bbs/Forum15/HTML/001236.html). And there was a, more or less parallel discussion here. (http://www.totse.com/bbs/Forum15/HTML/001235.html)

Perhaps not direct answers to your questions, but there are many connections.

1)we have the ability to learn ways to make clean fuel for cars and planes, etc, but we won't develop it because the large corporations control the government.

2)the US spends more than twice what the rest of the world combined spends on the military

And apparently Esso has bought the rights to make electrical cars. They don't intend to, but at least now noone else can do it and put them outta pocket.

What's wrong? Where do I start?

1) We are destryoing the rainforests, the ozone layer, and pretty much the entire third world.

2) Government, business, media lies on a regular basis, blatantly and shamelessly3) Wal-mart is working very hard to put all small retailers out of business.

4)Farmers in the midwest are literally destroying the aquifer (a huge underground pool of fresh water) in order that we may have cheap burgers at MacDonalds.

5) People like me who sort of know what the fuck is going on are demoralized and powerless.

Want more? Email me. This is too depressing to post publicly.

The fundamental root of the problem is that everything that was once sacred is not on clearance at Target in some form.

Watch Lord of the Rings. Imagine Isengard winning. That is our present state.

everything that is known to be right is wrong and everything known to be wrong is right. what i am trying to say is that being right or wrong is just a mtter of opinion, for example everything could be made out of a purple goo rather than atoms, coz dats my opinion just like the atom thing is some one elses (i am not sayiong i do believe that lol). or the number 7 could really mean the number 2000000000000000 for all we know. so how are we to now really what is right or wrong?

The problem is our environment. Not the nature-environment, though that's getting screwed up too. I'm talking about the moral environment in which we grow up. Heroic virtues we once exalted are now looked down upon and discouraged, while all manners of evil are praised.

And what's wrong with corporations controlling gv"t? It's better than the other way round. BilGetz would have so many competitors he couldn't even make it to monopoly. Is THAT what you want?

Industry should serve it's culture. Gov't regulation is a poor method to force it into compliance.

Proposal: In exchange for individuals having a right to a corporate veil - their demise at the hands of a lynch mob, would go uninvestigated. You're either a citizen, or you're not.

Dont take this the wrong way, im not accusing anyone, but lots of people feel the need to force their ideas on how to live and so on onto those that are doing fine on their own. (you find this mostly in religion and government restrictions) but anyhow thats my biggest concern with the world

ok how about this, There are too many poor people, and not enough jobs, and they keep having kids, and the jobs become less and less

Our government doesn't work at all and brainwashes people while violently brutally murdering people and putting it on tv like it's a fucking movie, to get ratings.

People like Christians, Atheists and Catholics think they're completely right and everyone else is wrong. Instead of studying all the ancient teachings, and try to keep an open mind, these people stick to ONE teaching, and dismiss all the others as bullshit. People are fighting over a holy land that has so much bloodshed from their mindless violence that it shouldn't even be considered holy anymore. Anyone who pretends everything is okay, everyone who acts like it HAS to be like this, everyone who acts like war is the only solution, Everyone who can't accept that we can do better than this. Instead of finding ways to help the human race, the only thing modern scientists care about is money and sounding right.

It's getting hotter every single year because of what we do to our ozone layer, 90% of some high school senior class students own cars that help destroy it, cars they don't fucking need, the school system trains people to work, for people above them to stay rich, instead of giving a shit about what they learn and how it will help them. There are people starving while bombs cost billions, The catholic church is way too fucking rich for it's own good (funny how they preach that greed is wrong and then own acres and acres of fucking land, while everyone else in the neighborhood rots to shit) The world is becoming overpopulated and nobody cares because they think they'll be dead by the time it's too late for humanity (because nobody believes in reincarnation or gives a shit about the future generations). Men waste their lives on killing men on a battlefield supporting some bullshit "glory" that they won't even be alive to see.

There is a lack of love, and it is destroying us, and though I may sound like some enraged, pissed off, immature, stupid teenager, I try to help, I try to be kind to everyone I meet, but I can look beyond my house, and though I can't really do anything HUGE to help the world, I'm not going to be ignorant of the fact that we're doing things wrong and need to change, and soon.

I can only hope it is soon like so many have prophesized.... I can only hope...

Excellent. Keep responding, I'll post my essay when I'm finished. I'm hearing a lot of well thought out arguments here.
