Question: According to the Christian religion, is substance abuse wrong? If so, where does it say this?
I've wondered this for awhile, some people say that "your body is a temple" and such but does that say that all substances that interfere with your natural physical state are wrong? (What about legal substances-caffeine, nicotine, etc?) Does it even say that any are? Does anybody know of anywhere in the Christian bible that states substance abuse to be a sin, and if so, does anyone know if they all are considered so or just some... what's the deal?

Well...god put weed here right, and in the bible jesus changed water to wine, so that means he also did not care if people drank
I don't believe in christianity anyway

That's what I've figured since I started, but if that's right what's all the fuss about?
I try to believe in Christianity, but frankly it gets harder and harder everyday.

Depends on what substances you're talking about.
It says right there in Genesis that G-d gave us humans every green and seed-bearing plant for food. This is before he also gave us the animals. Originally, we weren't supposed to eat meat, but later he changed his mind.
But, it really comes down to drugs just not being good for you in the long run. All drugs.
Even though G-d may have said it was okay to eat ganja, I still decided to quit it.

I highly doubt Christianity is against substance abuse. Hell, the dude that wrote Revelations was trippin' on somethin' fierce himself.

Most of the arguments are based on a passage against socercy (in the King James version; from the Greek pharmekeia actually the root word of pharmeceuticals)in Galatians. Conservative Christians combine the two meanings of pharmakeia to conclude it's a prohibition of the use of recreational drugs, particularly hallucinogens. Having said that, the same groups also use it as a general purpose passage to condemn witchcraft, contraceptive pills and anything else they don't particularly like.

people say it because it's harmful to your body. All drugs are (wheter medical or not). They just want to make you stop and will do almost anything to "save" you from yourself.
This is an example of Christianity having been changed to fit people's liking where ever they are.
Another fucking example of people who know nothing about what they're bashing.
There's nothing in the bible like-
"And the Lord took a hit on his bong, and settled into his beanbag chair."
Or-
"Thus, God stuck down the tweakers, for they had indulged in the evil weed."
Your answer-
There is no answer.
According to the book, God did give everything on earth for mans use, including plants. This would mean that aspirin and use of weed is okay.
However. If a person is using crack or speed, it can be agreed that it is harmful to the body.According to most of Christianity, this person would be destroying his body and consequently, his life, Therefore polluting Gods gift, i.e. your life.It could also be considered a slow form of suicide, a big no-no according to the book.
The Bible also states occasionaly that drinking wine and such is not forbibben, it
is encouraged. However, a "drunkard" is viewed as bad.
So use your medicinal plants, be a social drinker, and stay away from hard drugs, and you're most likely in the rule book.
Notes-
There is no book in the bible called
Revelations
It is Revelation, no "s"
I remain a defender of the Faith, despite the fact I do not follow it.Get a freaking Bible, and read the thing, so you can educate yourself in what you don't believe in.

I love the Pope, the Pope smokes dope
but seriously. All the 'wise men' back in the day smoked weed to help them think. The disciples probably did too, maybe even Jesus. It could be where all those spooky visions came from.
