Recently, a local pastor was awakened at 5 am by a primitive alarm he had set up inhis church, which was well away from his home and which contained nothing of value.
Instead of calling the police, he went over with his .44 magnum. The two guys tried to get away--as they ran from him--they were outside, he was inside--he shot both of them IN THE BACK.
Both died, one of multiple gunshot wounds. In no way was he endangered.
Last news, he was indicted on two counts of manslaughter and two counts of negligent homicide. If convicted, he faces a max of 60 years.
Many people condone this. To me, someone gets in your home, fine--cap their ass. But to shoot someone in the back and heinous and cowardly.
Your thoughts?
He's a priest, I see it as no different from any man, because that's all he is, a man. If he were a butcher, a bank owner or a pilot, and he did this, it would still be the same to me.
He's human. Some humans are stupid and do stupid shit like buy guns that are used to kill people. The thing is, most christians/catholics will probably be really shocked because for some reason they seem to think priests are some fucking God-like perfect souls.
I think he made a very bad decision. Then again, I really don't like the idea of guns at all. I feel bad for the two guys who got shot. I don't really think there was anything they could have done in that incident to deserve to be shot to death (in the other threads, I read they were stealing food for their family or something)...
damn father, whatever happened to "love thy neighbor as you love thyself"? Guess you can't live how you preach. I guess he was probably really afraid, but come on... the guys were RUNNING AWAY and he SHOT THEM, while they were pretty much DEFENSELESS. Next time use your brain and not your trigger finger, pastor. (btw, love the title "pistol packin pastor", makes me laugh every time I read it)

Life just keeps getting more and more amusing for those of us who love God and despise organized religion.
Now a bishop was busted for hit and run, and may be charged with manslaughter.

Life just keeps getting more and more amusing for those of us who love God and despise organized religion. Well a few years ago a rabbi was busted in MTL, Que by unders on a dope deal. He had been framed well I knew him he was the naive guy with lots of debts and was found as appealing by two unders who set him up and caught him with the kilo of white dope. They probably got a medal or a better job, he went to jail.
That made countrywide headlines in the papers, around year 1993. Well he was not a real rabbi, he was a reform judaism non-profit worker or so, with some kinds of rabbinical sides to his job.
But xian clergy with child-molesting and moslems with terror and related theologies, take the palm for crime.
