View Full Version : After Afterlife?

This is a theoretical question, which may mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people (some people might believe the afterlife is eternity, for example).

Well, what do YOU think comes after the afterlife?

Saying the mind survives the death of the body is like saying 50mph survives the car crash.

there is no after afterlife, there is afterlife and it goes on forever til end of time.

I like the wit, but it doesn't fit.

The relation between a body and soul is not the same as the relation between a car crash and the speed it was going.

I'm sure you already knew that.

How do you know the afterlife is bound to time?

Hmm... I'd say... death.

I was sitting in this chair perfectly sober, and it just hit me: What if the afterlife (if it even exists) does not last forever?

Something would have to follow, right?

It got me thinking, "what exactly does follow?", and that spawned this topic

I dunno, shit like that happens to me lots, although if im stoned the thoughts certainly come easier

If there is something after life, then one might assume that there should be something after that, and using the same logic one might then ask what came before life? All I know that exists is the limited time we have here and now. So I say, make the most of what you've got don't worry about what's next.

Hmmm after the afterlife, well, i think that we stay in the afterlife for a while, reviewing our life, and being guides for our families.. .then we go back and do it all again... until we finally figure out all the things we have done wrong...then we reach true enlightenment, and turn into pure energy and go to the next dimension. Its cause we are all one big experiment in the petri dish called earth, with some weird alien as our 'god'....

but really, its now that is important.... The journey is more important than the destination!

Why must you help your family? Isn't life supposed to be about learning from your own mistakes? If not, Why can't you just learn life's lessons while in the plane of existence you are in when you die?

Etymologically: The afterdeath?

because not being there for family is one of the mistakes that people make... or not being nice to them... so if you fuck shit up in life, you have to fix it up...

or there could be no afterlife, and therefore no after afterlife... so we die and cease to exist

Then what do you think happens?

The mind survives death to the engine to a 90 mph car crash.

There is a God I am possitive. I think. Wait I just realized how senseless my theory is. But it is all semi-factual just not at a Beta-thinking level. It was either an Alpha or a Theta. I can't remember now that I am stupid, but once I had the answer to life and the universe and thats all I have to say about that.

True. He has a point, though. The mind is a result of a functioning brain. The network of reactions between the firing neurons gives rise to the mind. Once the neurons stop firing, the mind ceases to exist. No "soul" remains afterwards, unless there is some sort of echo of the interactions which formed the mind originally (since it is the interactions which form the mind, not actually the electrical impulses themselves, another means to cause the system to continue functioning with the same interactions would cause the mind to continue to exist).
