Bets please: will this thread be flamed quickly enough to be moved to B&M, or will it simply be locked?

I suppose there's a slight chance it will develop into... nah.

Last-ditch-effort is threats of hell. Failing that, it says that if you were once a Christian and left, you can never be so again.

After one gets over the whole "promissary threat of punishment after death for noncompliance" thing, they realize that there is no longer a compelling reason to believe at all, they get over the psychological terrorism, and the illusion is shattered. There's really not much else the organization can do to you after that since they can't have you executed like back during the Dark Ages.

When I was a lot younger, My friends and I resorted to bible pages for rolling paper.

Apart from that, throwing your bible in the trash is only symbolic, and about as meaningful as the Baptism ceremony.

I know modern-day mainstream Christianity is mostly a load of social bullshit, but I still have several Bibles lying around the house. They make interesting reading.

Millions of people exactly like you have done exactly what you did, and they all suddenly felt like they were more enlightened than everybody else.

You're not. You're just like everybody else, an average athiest.

Can't tell you how many times I've heard that one.

Undoubtably.

But they're not in small numbers.

They always have been and will continue to be for quite some time. They are on the rise, however, with the age of information and the internet. Unwillful ignorance is fast running out of places to hide.

Islam is the fastest growing religion today, however.

If that's not backwardsly ironic, I don't know what is.

My views on relegion is... uh well I dont believe in any god. I think that the bible was written for entertainment purposes like to read for fun its a big novel. Most of the occurences in the bible are simply way too unrealistic too have actually happened. Its sort of like what if in lets say... the year 4003 someone discovers something like a collection of old spider man commicbooks. They will think its all true and start praying to their god, spider man. I believe this is how relegion came to be. "God" is not a real thing just something that brings relegious people hope, and hope is comforting, but will not help you escape reality. And so "god" has no control over any one of us, we all control our own lives and decide our own fate. That is that. And if "god" was real, then why would ahhh nevermind I'm done.

And now for an exclusive LizardKing original quote, "Don't believe in god, believe in yourself.

You can do whatever you want. You have free will. If you want to throw you bible in the trash, that your choice. You are the one that will suffer for it. Again, your choice.
