In my theory, Humans created god as a goal to be. God symbolizes truth and completeness, something that all humans strive for in life. I think that we dont seek to serve god, we seek to be god. I think god is the human dream of perfection in himself, and when a human believes in himself, he no longer needs to believe in god. We seek to be perfect, although we all take different paths, and perfect has many meanings. What do you think?

I believe that your almost correct.

We all strive to be as perfect as god, yet we are already perfect and we are already god.

When enlightened we will be at one with the God that we are.

thats a good theory.

but not all religions believe in a god.

there are people/religions who do not recognise a single god, and also aehtiests etc. so are these people not striving for perfection?

probably the best religions that support your theory is Hinduism and Buddhism. for their belief in karma and reincarnation.

Pagans just see different gods as different aspects of perfection. Now Atheists, I'm not so sure about that one. quote:Beany:

we are already perfect How so? IMO we can never be perfect, and part of enlightenment is to stop trying to be.

Interesting theory. But why does a core tenet of many religions tend to be that while God is perfect, humans are not and never can be (except, perhaps, when dead)?

Craftian, i dont think you understand my theory. When I say Humans Dream to be perfect, thats exactly what i mean. They are not perfect. God is not a physical or concious entity, but a state-of-mind.

About athiests, they also dream of perfection, they just dont slap the label of "God" on that state of being. They dont believe in the theory of God being a physical entity.
