View Full Version : What happens when you die?
There was a topic with the same in politics posted by mr.pimpin man.It had no place in politics but i thought it was an interesting question.
Personally,I believe that when we die.Its over. You arent conscious or anything its just over.Perhaps a little after you die (there is 'activity' in a 'dead' body a little while after the person die).
However it would be cool if when you die you could be reborn or someone else(reincarnation). But it would be cool too if there was a heaven or hell. But i look at the facts and don't believe it exist.
I guess i'll just have to wait and see.
What do you think happens when you die?

What happens. Exactly what it says in the bible. yes, the bible. But part of me feels it will be like lots of black or something. Damn, I cant wait to experience it.
If you accept that Jesus died for you, for everything you've done and can't do, to show you He forgives you if you accept that He forgave you, you will go to Heaven, if you refuse to accept it, you go to hell, it's that simple, if you wish to know the truth you will, and the truth shall set you free.

So you mean to tell me that if I don't believe in this unseen man, I will go to a place called "hell", and if I do believe in him, I will go to a place called "heaven"?
That's terrorism.
It's like, we have to comply with the "terrorist's" (God's) demands, or he starts wasting hostages (souls).
Not only is that terrorism, that's blackmail as well.

What are you insane? You can't die. Don't you remember the week of training class before you got your body? Am I the only one who's read the bloody instruction manual?
you die? HA!

Heywtfffffffuck!!!!?
Man if you can't take it the wayit is don't fuck with it...!
WTF...?
The mortician drains your blood, infuses embalming fluid, and you go to a grave or you are incinerated. Which makes me wonder; if the blood vessels collapse when the heart stops pumping how does the embalming fluid infuse? I don't think anyone alive knows what happens after death unless you believe the life after death stories about a white light--I don't believe them. Religious and non-religious thoughts about after death are different, so how can they all be right?

its a scary thought that when you die everything is over and you are gone. so if i truely didn't believe in jesus and the bible, i would have gone crazy tring to figure out what happens and would have killed myself by now.
if you believe that everyone dies alone, you are wrong. because if everybody eventually dies, your not alone?

I'm not sure what happens, but I am sure it's a hell load better than being on Earth.

I don't think anyone can actually give you an answer. Just wait and see.
1 hour after death the muscles relax totally.
3 hours after death rigor mortis sets in. [Interesting if they died in an unusual position]
After 1 day the body has fully returned to room temperature. [I presume the skin cools much more rapidly but internal...]
After 1 day the skin shrinks/contracts. This makes it appear that the hair and nails have, or are still, growing.
Within 1 to 2 days, if flies are around, they will begin laying maggots in available areas of the body such as between the lips and eyelids.
After 2 days rigor mortis relaxes.
After 2 days the internal tissue begins the process of decay; starting to turn into gasses and liquids.
Within 1 week the flesh has become `liquid like' under the skin; and the skin can fall off if touched.
In 2 weeks the stomach distends due to accumulation of gasses and this can lead to the discharge of a dark, bloody liquid from the nose and mouth of the corpse.
After 3 to 4 weeks the body is extremely decayed:- hair and nails can be easily pulled out; the trunk has swollen to twice its size; while the face has gone a purple green and the tongue protrudes.
[One bloke mentioned that after 5-6 weeks the body has become what they in the trade call a `soup'...]
Finally; if a body is buried in the ground then after a time of 10 years all tissue has turned to liquid and gas and been absorbed by the surrounding ground leaving only the bones.
Well that what happpens physcially!
Not sure what happens spirtually have not crossed that line yet. But if I do I will let you know

I believe that when you die, you enter the afterlife. IMO it is transcendence into the next plane of existance. So you live in another form, and exist forever, perhaps getting reincarnated and such.

i dont know im going to go with einstien on this. he said that there has to be an afterlife because all energy is never lost. that beggs the question what is the concious state? is it nerve endings and brain tissue creating a false sence of realism or are we what we think we are. something that controls itselef with everything around it doing the same. if the latter is true are concious becomes a tranfered energy into pcions. (small pings of energy) and we weve alll across the universe. if it is the former we are all worm food.

What's wrong with feeding worms? When you're fed up you feed others, end of line.

You know, one could actually understand your points of view if you would punctuate your sentences. How the hell am I supposed to glean your meaning when you run sentences together, or don't use commas. The misspelling I can deal with, although it certainly does NOT add to your crediblility. And, of course, my more correct grammar usage doesn't add to my crediblility.
Now to the issue at hand. What happens at the point of physical death? I've read many accounts from those who have been clinically pronounced dead and they have maintained consciousness of their identity.
And for those that have passed that state to full blown death, maybe the scientists can tell me, what happens to all that energy?
My philisophy is that of reincarnation. How else do you explain certain people who seem to take so easily to other people, as if they have known them so long, when only they met in recent past. Or how else do you explain such young children displaying certain proclivities at such advanced stages? Or how else do you explain certain people who, never having been to a certain place, recognize it, and more, are able to describe what's around the corner, and what building is next to what other building?
My theory is that we have to keep taking the test here on earth until we eventually learn, and ascend to higher levels of existence. Don't ask me what those are.
But the process that fascinates me most is how we manifest from a spirit to the material housing the spirit. Just how does the soul enter the body? Alcohol seems to let unsavory souls inhabit bodies for periods of time, otherwise known as blackouts. But how does our soul enter our bodies, and when? When we first breath? Is the number of souls in the universe constant?
All great questions to ponder.
according to an article i read, in the christian religion, no one goes to heaven or hell except those who came from them. there's this whole deal with people being basically "knocked out" until Jesus ressurects them and everyone lives on earth happily, even if you didnt believe in christianity. if you didnt believe then you are given a chance to accept, but if not then you're just wiped out of existence. this is supposed to be in the bible somewhere, and the article gave bible passages, but i lost the article http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif) and i dont really feel like reading the entire bible... so this is what i read. thought it might fit in this discussion.
After reading 12:27 post. I just realized there are quite a few similarities between near death expericenes and being knocked out. I have been knock out quite a few times, and if you have also you will see the similarity. There is a list of what people who have had N.D.E. with symptoms of being knocked out in parenthesis
The individual experiences clinical death defined as lack of blood flow to the brain and the subsequent shutdown of cerebral cortex function. (severe hit to head )
The voices of doctors or relatives are audible to the person. (you cant see but you can hear)
There is an uncomfortable or loud buzzing or ringing noise. (yep had that one)
The individual experiences moving through a long dark tunnel toward a bright light.(tunnel vision going into knock out state and comming out)
Moving outside the physical body is often reported.(yep right after tunnel vision goes to complete blackness you get a weird, vertigo, floating, 3 person perspective of yourself)
Seeing the physical body from an external vantage point (an “out-of-body experience”). (nope )
The individual experiences a state of emotional upheaval. (nope not really)
Then the person becomes adjusted to this new state of being and may experience mental telepathy. (nope)
Visualization of spirits or dead relatives who may act as guides. (nope)
Experiencing a feeling of great warmth.
Meeting a “being of light” which sometimes resembles God or Jesus and who desires to pass judgement on the individual. (nope)
There is often a replay of life events.(yep you remeber the last few seconds of what happened before you where knocked out as you are comming to)
The individual approaches some type of barrier between life and death. (nope)
The individual finds he or she must return to life while being overcome with joy, love, and peace.(nope)
The person is reunited with their physical body and becomes conscious. (yep coming to)
Im not trying to say they are the same or anything close!! or I have had a N.D.E.!!! But the similarities are there and I just realized it!!

It's because every last bit of it is all in the brain and entirely dependent on the brain.
well, i didnt mean literally 'knocked out'. i kind of meant like your 'soul' is knocked out(or something like that). but hey, glad i could cause some inspiration!

REINCARNATION RULES!
But the "proof" isn't people geting along easily when they didn't know each other from b4.
It's just more efficient to explain why some assholes have it all, and many "good people" suffer.
Plus it is also compatible with physical laws of recycling.
Just Bcos xianity doesn't even consider reincarnation, means nothing.
Most religions take it for granted, including buddhism, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, etc...

The bible never says that the ressurection is physical in fact when jesus "resurrected" Mary mistook him for a gardener and his disiples diddnt even recognize him. So maybe the resurrection means something else.
here's Webster’s definition of resurrection:
1. The rising of Christ from the dead, the rising again to life of all the human dead before the final judgment, the state of one risen from the dead
2. A spiritualization of thought: material belief that yields to spiritual understanding
So perhaps the bible means when talking about ressurection that Jesus will come back and bring spiritual understanding. Also I've never read in the bible about Jesus taking away your existance (I think you were BSed about that).
