I can't believe how brainwashed most people are in this forum. The truth is that nobody knows what will happen when you die because nobody has died and come back to say what happens. That would be impossible. You put all this faith into one book of stories that was written with metaphors and has been translated through hundreds of different languages. Not even historians know if it was written as fictional or non-fictional. Religion is a tool used by organized society to keep people in line through fear. It has been planted in your head since you were little in most cases. Grow some balls and start thinking for yourself, not how someone else or some book tells you to believe.

"Dont believe in God, believe in yourself"

-John Lennon I Believe

Although religion is a snse of security, which some people need...

you're right. i guess people like to talk about theories? that's what i'm trying to do. i don't believe one specific thing actually. i'm just trying to keep myself alive for the time being, god or no god.

teamtiger, can you tell us what you believe about this, that no one else has thought of before nor influenced your thoughts and ideas? Just because you disagree with their thoughts doesn't make you correct. Your post can be construed as a form of brainwashing in itself.

The endless stream of pseudo-philosophers who proclaim everyone else to be 'sheep' are sheep.

I'm not claiming to be a "philosopher" and am not trying to brainwash anyone. I just don't know if people realize that they might be following a belief system just because they are told it's the right and only way. There is no right or wrong way to have a connection with God.

One universal consistency is variety: Varieties of galaxies, solar systems, stars, planets, and (as far as Earth is concerned and probably more planets) life forms, intelligence levels, belief systems, etc.

Everyone is free to choose their own path, but I hope they put some personal thought into it rather than just follow what their parents or society tells them to. Those that do not come to a personal understanding of their Connection are indeed "sheep", hence the reason for this post.

Of course it could never occur to atheists that one's faith does come from another's, a belief is not supposed to based upon fact or else it totally contradicts the whole meaning of a belief.

My belief in God is my own thought out theory that yes is based upon Christianity but that doesn't mean every book i read i immediately follow it's principles. Christianity and entry to Heaven is based upon a belief - to show you're worth if you like. Many greater, stronger, intelligent people than you or i have followed religion, but i guess they're all still dumb because no facts were handed out...silly people, if only they had you're unique view on life and death...they might never have..well gone to their deaths with happiness instead of fear...

Religion as we know it is the root of all evil in this world. more innocent people have been murdered, more human setbacks, more negative things have been dealt to the human race as a whole because of religion. it has stunted human progress by at least 1000 years, is responsible for the deaths of millions, and is responsible for more wars than any other beliefs in history. Religion is a hypocrisy.
