I was taught that we were made in God's image. And in my head it raised some questions:

1.How are we alike God?

2.Why does God need a penis(he's noncorporeal)?

3.Is he truly the all-powerful if he needs us to become corporeal?

4.If you saw someone you loved trapped under something or drowning would you save them?

5. Is it true that ppl are supposed to spend their lives purifying their souls since we're born evil? And we do this to become more like God?

ppl plz remember I'm just trying to lear here.

We are alike God in a mental sense.

We are consciousness and our greatest wish it to express our consciousness. This expression is done through everything we do.

God expresses himself through 'life' and we experience Gods expression, but our perception of Gods expression is clouded by our own mental baggage.

We aren't born into evil, but we are born with a clouded perception about life. Certain religeons and spirituality helps to remove our mental baggage so we can experience God as it/he is.

or something similar which can be explain in so many different ways.

The answer is actually quite simple. We can make choices... or something along those lines.

'God'>.>>.>physical entities>>.>>.>>

...That's how.

Imagine a scale of frequencies or vibration. 'God' being the highest, the starting point. Then as the scale goes down you will somewhere along the line get to us, then it will continue as such.

This is a VERY quick explanation of what it means to be created in the image of 'God'.

Beany I was told that we are all Gods children. And that God loves all his children. I know that if my child was drowning, or anyone I love I wouldn't hesitate to save them. Why because my conscience wouldn't allow otherwise, and If we are alike God cause we have consciences. Then why doesn't he do the same for his faithful followers/his children?

We're nothing like God. Not only do we have limited powers, we sometimes are driven to become the devil himself....Plain and Simple.

Man was made in Gods image I believe in a spiritual and mental sense. God has good tendencies and bad. He's able to succumb to desires just as well as we are. Does he have to be all powerful and omniscient? I don't know. I don't think of God as a thing. He's an idea put here to keep human beings sane. By believing in God the way that you do then you feel nothing to worry about and then again not believing in God keeps you from being God fearing. If someone I loved was stuck or drowning would I save them? That's a decision call. We'd all love to say that we would but you don't know yourself until your backs against the wall. Purifying our souls because we are born evil? I think man is born indifferent and grows evil. Mankind in general is evil. To get ahead in this world you must show no mercy, you must move forward with strife and determination and not be afraid to trample those in your path. Machiavelli had stated that man is evil and because of that a prince cannot risk being excessively generous and kind. I personally feel that I shouldn't compromise how I live because of the fear of hell. I believe that fate is out there but I also believe fate can be steered and in that I try to live my life the way I'd like to and not fear what comes after, if anything does.

Because in that situation nothing bad is happening to us. It might seem so to most people but God knows that if we die drowning then our spirits carry on into another life. We are our spirits not our bodies. The spirit never dies and is eternally safe. The body is just a temporary carriage and a body drowning is nothing bad, just a process of nature. Natural reactions that we think are bad but aren't.

This doesn't mean that I wouldn't save a loved one from drowning tho. I would because I still suffer from attachment, and there's always the chance that my beliefs are complete tosh.

The REAL question is, who is this "God" guy and why does everyone want to be him?

P.S. It all comes down to choice. A choice beyond the concept of GOD. You can either fall to Greed (Salvation of Self), or Love (Salvation of Another). God is Greed. in my opinion, wanting happiness is greed. Wanting to go to heaven is Greed. Wanting to be God or be under God is Greed. (And dont get me wrong, Greed is not a bad thing, as people may tell you, Greed is simply a choice of doing better for yourself. It is saving yourself, something which all of us would do. Greed is just as noble as love.) Love would be going to Hell for another. Love would be Giving someone else God. It is all a matter of security with self. God is a sense of security. God is a friend who will never die. God is Love. No man can be God, without sacrificing everything for someone else. God will forgive you for everything. God is the love shown to us. But we cannot show love to God. Only Greed. It is all we know. It is all we can be sure of. It is a tragedy, but a righteous one.

P.S. That was a rant and go totally off topic. Sorry. lol

Don't take this the wrong way but, you Christians all come up with your own interpretations of what things in the bible mean. What you said makes no sense at all. You can't make an object in the image of something that has no image(spirits and mentalities).

And also I think that ppl are born evil by definition. Because all of mankinds hearts are filled with endless desire, and selfishness, and we are like that until death. Even ppl who give and give are selfish. Cause in the end all they want in return(WANT-which means to desire) is respect of others and ppl to like them.

But I think you hit the nail right on the head when you said "He's an idea put here to keep human beings sane." I've been saying that for centuries but I always get cursed out.

I really think we need to do away with this "God" term since it more often than not portrays an innacurate image of what the person is trying to convey.

That is, unless you are trying to portray your run-in-the-mill typical everyday casual God, like the ones in Biblical theology.

HAHAHAHAHA! Christian. No I'm not Christian dude I'm antigist lol. I don't think that anything you can say about religion makes sense because there's always a different point of view to counter it.

We Were not created in God's image. King James is a penis head that wanted the bible to rhyme instead of be accurate. My highly religious English history teacher told me this and also that the words in the kings James bible should say: "We were created in God's imagination."

Interesting concept. I never heard of it, but it rings true.

The literal image thing is superstitious bullshit--Plato wisely observed that if horses had gods, the gods would look like horses.

We are like god in that we have the power to create, and we all have way more power than the priests of various religions would have us think.
