this is probably the one and only topic ill ever start or read in this forum. to me this place is an eye sore on totse. a bunch of people arguing things that cant be proven or disproved. i know im about to step into my own stereotype here but this has always bothered me about bible thumpers, psudo religious people, and convertists. u dont realy believe in the stuff u preach. one main example is funerals. take christians for example, u believe that heaven awaits. this is eternal bliss were talking about in gods light, but u cry. oohh u cry your eyes out at funerals. why is that? 1 of 2 things. you dont really believe the bullshit that u spout, OR its the basic humanistic response of selfishness. oh my friend bob died, how will I ever get on without him. not oh my friend bob is dead, your grieving for yourself. and while were on the subject of death why is everyone so afraid to die, someone points a gun at your head u piss yourself. should u say yes, shoot me so i can go to heaven and be in eternal bliss. again cause u dont believe the babble that u preach. most people believe in some sort of god or religion nowadays just in case. or they skip around trying to find whats right for them. now to me thats some traitorus shit right there. nope this dosnt feel right, nope i want sundays free, nope i dont like thinking that jesus was black. WHY cause u dont realy believe the things that u preach and the only reason why u preach them is just in case there realy is an after life u will be able to get through the pearly gates. but when u think about it, realy think about it, an omnipotent being is certainly going to know better than u do weather or not u have true faith. so all the lieing u did to yourself in life isnt going to matter worth dick when judgement day comes. so come clean bible thumpers, come clean convertists and door to door bible salespeople, get the fuck off my porch.

That's about all it adds up to. I was thinking of exactly that for the last couple of weeks. Oh well, watch them argue that it isnt that case...

People cry at funerals, in my opinion, because they are emotional characters prone to displays of emotion no matter what the event. The point being both of us have made a generalisation and a generalisation is only proven true in only some but not all cases.

Instinct and the will to survive make people afraid to die and in my opinion override any other reasons for fear of death and some people are just worriers. Religion doesn’t really come into it.

I don’t see what’s wrong with finding your own version of religion or philosophy but I understand what you mean about some people not bothering because it takes too much effort.

You assume there is a judgement day, eternal happiness and a heaven.
