View Full Version : heaven is a lonely place.
lets assume that there is a god, and it is a stict jealous christian god.
okay, 52 million people die each year globally.
there is 6 billion people in this world. about 2 billion are christian. if you discount non-practising (in the way it says in the bible), hyprocrites, those who have commited a mortal sin, people who don't belive entirely (railroaded in) and wierd sects (like the KKK) i would say (very generously IMO) that 5-10% of christians go to heaven.
that translates to 5-10% of the entire world going to heaven. each year that is 3.9 million people. more importantly, that is about 48 million people a year going to hell.
this, of course, does not take into account that christians, due to cultural imperialism and exploiting the rest of the world have very low death rates while everyone else is dropping off like flies. this would mean that they die less while more people get to go to hell.
seems like a pretty shitty deal to me.
Who would really want to be in a heaven filled with christians anyways. That WOULD be hell for me http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif)
Fortunately, it's probably not the case at all.

Anyone read Johnny the Homicidal Maniac? He goes to Heaven and all it is, is people sitting on chairs...he asks why, and gets the response everyone is so content they dont need to do anything at all...that would suck.

You ever hear of nirvana?

so how would you like it to be?
I don't think I want heaven to exist. Immortality seems to devalue this existance somehow, by just making it an insignificant stretch of our time which we spend all wrong (according to God). Taking the pressure off by saying 'It's ok, you've got eternity to be happy after you die' would make life less intense, less important.
Anyone agree?

Indubitably.

Okay people if you actually read the bible you would know that anyone can go to heaven even those who betray God.

How do you "betray" god? If I wanted to stab him in the back, where do I go about placing the knife I just grabbed from the cutlery?
That's just the thing, you can't because it's impossible to stab the back of something that has no form, is nondescript, cryptic, and vague, or just plain doesn't exist.
That's why the Christian god takes every insignifigant petty thing you doand turns it into this great personal offense against him which you must seek forgiveness for or perish in flame.
Lawnmower man has a point. Christian dogma allows you to act the fool your entire life, but if you eventually surrender your soul, and ask for forgiveness, you get in.

No what is it? [/sarcasm]
I think it would suck because chairs are uncomfortable...On a serious note, I dunno, it seemed amusing that ulitmate contentment is achieved and everyone is just sitting on chairs. Such an anticlimax...

...and then people's heads start exploding. heh.
seriously, though, it's not that bad. I can't say I know for sure what the afterlife's like, but I died in a dream once. Not almost died, but died. What happened next was very similar to what JTHM describes.
Everything kinda faded to black, and as it was all fading out, this overwhelming sense of peace fades in. I didn't think it sucked because at that point, nothing could suck. It was all just one big "Ahhhh..."
I agree with RAOVQ, Hell is most definitely exothermic.
