View Full Version : Why?
Why do you need a religion, why do you need a belief? Why can't people admit that they do not know what happens when you die. Are you afraid of the unknown? Would you rather believe in a lie than say you don't know? To live is to die. Every creature that lives on this planet dies. Why would you fear this?

If saying that you know that there is an afterlife is a lie, isn't saying that you know there isn't an afterlife just as much of a lie?

where three of you are gathered together, there is my church.
Look, you're Jesus, you tell us.

I need a belief because nothing I know gives me an adequate view of reality. So I believe in one - but in believing I simultaneously claim that (a.) something is as I believe it is and (b.) that I might be wrong.

Probably because the thought of death and their ultra-allegiance to a particular religion scares them away from facing reality.
But when you believe, even in God, you realize you might be wrong. Ultimately, even the most enlightened Christian will tell you he doesn't know for certain.

Many are, both religious people and non-religious.
I'm not.

Prove it's a lie and we'll talk.

You're repeating yourself. Ask some new questions.

For fucks sake, Im so sick of people using this cliched bullshit approach to religion. One ass like George Carlin or Anti-Flag goes and asks what at one time MIGHT have looked for one second like a good question, and now, years later, every 5 days, we have some jackass asking the question again, like none of us have ever seen it.
The answer, shithead, is the same it has been every 5 days for every new poster since over a year ago- Its only in your head that religion is so obsessed and founded on fear of death. I dont know any religious person, except for the dying ones, who "fear death," or even think negatively about it. The only religious thinking, in fact, that Ive ever seen about death, is according to old Samurai codes that instruct people to always think you can die at any moment. Beyond that, the only mention of death in this here forum for Religion, ironically enough, is initiated by the newbie shitstains who regurgitate the same moron question you have posed.

"Meditation on inevitable death should be performed daily. Every day when one's body and mind are at peace, one should meditate upon being ripped apart by arrows, rifles, spears and swords, being carried away by surging waves, being thrown into the midst of a great fire, being struck by lightning, being shaken to death by a great earthquake, falling from thousand-foot cliffs, dying of disease or committing seppuku at the death of one's master. And every day without fail one should consider himself as dead."

Jesus you are closed minded dick who has his head so far up his own ass that you cant even see the possbilty that YOU DONT KNOW EVERY THING AND THAT THE PEOPLE WHOS BOOKS AND ARTICLIE YOU HAVE READ DONT KNOW EVERYTHING EITHER. So shut the fuck up unless YOU are ready to believe that you have no idea what happens after you die. The fact is nobody does people look to religon to find the best case senario. SO dont call it a lie until you die and find out.
