Excellent question.
It's been one I've been asking myself recently, too.
I'm still looking for answers, however, so I'm afraid I'm not much help.

He went to India (or surrounding areas) and studies under the counsil of a Yogi. This is what I think anyway. The 3 wise men were from the east (possibly india). India is where the real deals are, as far as spiritual practices go.
Hmm, I came across a book in the metaphysics section of the bookstore that I believe was supposed to be about scriptures lost in history believed to be written by Jesus himself... I think it said it was supposed to be from those periods which you are talking about, not sure.
I really didn't read into it though, just the back of the book briefly.

There's never been any proof of that, and there's actually very little overlap between eastern mysticism and the original Nazarene movement.
Can you tell me(us) about the original Nazarene movement, or where I can find out detailed information about it?

From what I'd read in my studies, he traveled quite a bit. Records of a jesus like figure cropped up in India around the same time the records of him in Judaica seize. But, they're now finding evidence that he traveled up into Northern Europe and they believe that's where he married.
He married as a teenager and fathered two children. They lived nomadically with his apostles, followers, and mentors. Mostly rabbis and mystiks.
He was ordered to death by King Hara (of the Jews), who was notorious for being blood thirsty. He apparently killed several of his wives and own children, anyways; and he had it out for Jesus on account of people were calling him The King of The Jews.
Supposedly there was an incident with Jesus and his followers in Rome. They caused a disruption and were exiled from the country. Roman soldiers escorted them back to Judaica where King Hara was able to get a hold of Jesus.
King Hara, his advisors, and the Romans sentenced Jesus to death on the cross. Which probably wasn't even a cross...
So. There you go.
Cheers,

he studied in eygypt before returning to nazareth.
joseph of arimathea took him to glastonbury, england.
he travelled to india (a favourite of mine as it still seems to be destination of choice for israelies.)
he didn't physically die on the cross but was removed on the orders of joseph of arimathea. he then travelled to the south of france with mary magdala where they had children.
the above except they wound up in greece and his bloodline eventually became the salian franks.
take your pick the theorising is endless.
its more than likely jesus travelled extensively, but even if he had not the middle east is an important trade hub and the influences would have come to him.

i totally agree...he studied buddhism and yoga and found the true path.....there is some documantation about this.....ill see if i can dig it out..
also if you look at the original texts of the bible you will see that they talk of things such as rebecomming and god being within man..

It doesn't take study to come up with many of the ideas you speak of. Wasn't India at that time still controlled by the oppressive Hindu culture? I don't think that you would have picked up many sublime truths there besides "You have no caste, therefore you are unclean! Stay away!"
Much of what he speaks of could be derived from Judaism and his own personal beliefs.

Basically, it was one of the many Jewish Messiah movements that were fairly common in those days. The main difference between Jesus' movement and the other messiahs like Simon Bar Kochba or "The Egyptian" is that Jesus didn't believe an actual armed revolt to be necessary. His interpretation of scripture was that, at the appropriate time, he'd ascend the Mount of Olives, and God would perform a miracle through him that would destroy the Roman military, free Judaea, and inaugurate a golden age free of agrarian despotisms such as Rome and Persia.
An excellent general treatment of the subject can be found in "The Mythmaker: Paul and The Invention of Christianity."
EDIT: Okay, all you Buddhists need to read a goddamn book. There's no historical record whatsoever of Jesus saying ANYTHING that couldn't easily be derived from the prevailing Pharisaic views of the day. Quit trying to write your beliefs into history.

The Apocryphical book 'The Gospel of Infancy' - disclaimed by church authorities due to it's making them look bad, can be found here: http://www.cygnus-study.com/pageinf.shtml
It's about Jesus' youth.

No way. That's either a very loose and liberal translation, or complete bullshit.
I'm more inclined to believe the latter(in that, if written by Thomas, it was bullshit to begin with.)
Read that shit, and then take a look at the other deeds of Jesus, chronicled in the New Testament. See a unifying pattern? I don't.

I agree it's most likely 99.9% bullshit.
But then, I'm not a christian http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif), so who knows.
However, it was of interest to the topic, so I felt obligated to pull it up.
