Why do newBs ALWAYS!!! post thread titles in all caps and with exclamation points?
Maybe the devil makes them do it.
Nah, they're just ignorant. Ignorant and lazy.
Ignorant and lazy and barely worthy of contempt.
Oh, and let's not forget semi-literate.
I don't think there is a satan. Rather, I think we all have satan in us.
Is there a Satan?
Is there a Frodo Baggins?

Interesting.
But I don't know how disbelieving in Hell has anything to do with Satan's sex life.

Bad moods, difficult positions, impotent dreams...
These things do not equal Hell, by any stretch of the imagination.
So I gotta disagree with you there.

Satan doesn't work this obviously.
Satan's ethics of "good" and "bad" are unknown to us. Satan measures his actions by "Godly" and "not-Godly," meaning that everyting that is apart from God is in Satan's realm, since he's the most powerful non-Godly force there is.

I do.
There's absolutely no way to tell what exactly Satan looks like. His existence presents a sort of lax paradox - he was originally a Godly instrument that severed any and all Godliness. So what does he look like? Who knows. What can he look like? To us, anything.

ok, as i understand it "satan" was the great deciever. so named because his power existed only in the minds of men. he was/is created in thought. erroneous thought that's all.
don't be afraid of your own power. people do really stupid things through ignorance not evil. spend some energy seeking the ultimate reality rather than wasting your time on this fallacy.

God and Satan both represent different aspects of humanity as conceptualized by a wandering tribe of Arabs about 5000 years ago. Everyone is therefore satan and god, to an extent.
I don't believe in satan. Those who have searched the realms for hell have only found thoughtforms created by people or groups of people. There is no big giant ruler controlling it all. It just doesn't seem real, at all. Do other animals have satan in them? Does nature? All of satan's characteristics seem to be of human nature... just think about it. Well, that's my opinion at least.
Satan being a metaphor for the illusions we face everyday and our lack of love, lack of understanding, or ignorance... now I can see that as a possibility.
I also heard the Catholic church adopted the image of the Greek god Pan (red guy, goat legs, human body, horns, beard, tail with that shape on it, the whole 9 yards) and called it their own. I'm not so sure on that one, though. Look up "Pan" in google image search and you'll see what I mean.

^ Yeah, I agree with you.
A metaphor to symbolise what results from mankinds ignorance. Since ignorance is what causes us to do what we'd call "wicked things". Our negative presumtions of what we think will make us happy.

Technically, they were just Semitic, specifically Habiru, what would eventually evolve into the Hebrews. The Arabs are of Semitic extraction, but not all Semites are Arabs.

Satan and God are just another way for our government to control the way we think and act. Its all bull.
