Is Judaism primarily focused so much on life here and now rather than on the afterlife that there is essentially no dogma? And how can a Jew find any comfort in knowing that the afterlife consists of absolute and everlasting nothingness?

It doesn't consist of absolute and everlasting nothingness. According to Jewish faith, the world will end, God will ressurect everyone, and the good will be with him, and the rest be damned.

Atheism is having no afterlife, i feel no loss. Why spend your whole life looking forward to being dead? Spend your life living life.

some jews believe that if you are totally kick ass, then you go to heaven. if not you go to hell for about a year. and then you make your appeal to some angels. and if you still suck (which is rare) you get another year.

so our heaven is like new freakin delhi

but its all good

Because they feel that the afterlife is infinitely better than the life we live now. But you wouldn't argue that in a moment of living perfection, like orgasm for example.
