I don't know if this has been brought up here before, but if it hasn't:

I was just wondering what everyones opinions on the bible code are. Do you believe it ? Are you skeptical ? Do you think its all rubbish ?

For the people that may not have heard of it before, it is a theory that there is a code 'encrypted' in the bible. Dr Eliyahu Rips was the first scientist to make any major breakthrough with it, and although scientists such as Einstein and Newton devoted a huge amount of their time to it, they never had the technology of computers, vital to the research.

The way it is 'decrypted' is relatively easy, but hard to explain in words. You read a letter, and skip out a variable number of letters, before taking another letter, rinse and repeat, between each taken letter skipping out the same number of letters each time. For example, at the start of four books in the bible (can't remember which off hand), a skip sequence of 50 letters at a time spells the word "Torah" in each case.

The code is meant to tell of everything that has happened and will happen.

Anyway, back to opinions. Personally, i believe it is true, with my belief of a predetermined future making it easier for me to do so, however, i don't believe in God. Well humans obviously can't tell the future, which leads me to believe that the Bible was written by a 'higher intelligence', as suggested in the books by Michael Drosnin.

Anyway, just like to hear everyone elses opinion on this.

Cheers,

I think that it's bullshit. You can use any book for this sort of thing. I think Moby Dick had some good prophecies.

I think that it very well could be true but it could also be bs so before i believe in it I need to see that doctor actually perform some calculation before my very eyes on a computer that I built or until Los Angelas falls victim to a huge earthquake in 2008.

There is no code.

The bible was a nice piece of fiction created to keep the little people in place while the rich thrived. It has some good stories and some good rules to live a good life, but thats about it. If you had the time you could create your own code and make the bible say whatever you wanted.

I am not saying that any religion is right or wrong. I am just saying don't put your stock in a story book.

Until they predict something BEFORE it happens, and not after, I'll think it's bullshit
