Ok the Bible distinctly says that god has the power to do anything, well ponder this:
"Can this God make a rock so heavy that even he cant lift it?"
If your smart enought you'll see the absolute absurdity of the whole concept.
Note: this question was originally proposed in the 15th century by a student of Martin Luther(fun fact for your next Kegger)

Wow, at least you added something worthwhile to the post. I'm just sorry that he isn't still around today so I could beat his head in with a big boulder.
"If God can do anything he can make a stone so heavy that even he can't lift it. Then there is something God cannot do, he cannot lift the stone. Therefore God does not exist."
-Lucretius, (99-55 BCE)
Not trying to be an asshole of anything but, if you're going to post something like that at least get the facts right.
This one comes up almost as often as the Penis Length threads in S&A
Yeah, this little paradox has been around the block a few times. Hell, its been on the simpsons for God sakes! [the episode where Homer starts smoking Pot for his eyes. Ned comes to his door and homer asks him 'Could Jesus microwave a burrito so hot, even he couldn't eat it?']
The simple fact is that nobody ever said God existed within our universe. He is not bound by our rules of logic. Perhaps that little paradox makes perfect sense to us [in that it negates the existance of God] simply because we're so simple, and in reality, stupid. Maybe because we think everything needs to be 'logical'.
Perhaps when we stop assuming that we can understand anything thrown at us, or at least stop assuming that we can understand concepts we are no where near understanding, we will be fit to explore things such as this as we will no longer be bound by expectations of a 'logical' answer.
Boles, fuck god and fuck jesus they arent real

If God desired to do so he could. But it would be unlikely that he would create something mightier than He.

This stems to your ideas of the creator, you are confused because your ideas are not accurate depictions. Evreything at once is kind of hard to hold in our limited perspective.
Right, I'll answer this once and for all so it stops being posted on here..
The dilemma posed in the question "can God make a rock so heave that he is unable to move it" is a false dilemma. It is false because it is erected on a false premise. It assumes that "omnipotence" means that God can do anything. Yet, as a theological term, omnipotence does not mean that God can do anything; He cannot lie, He cannot die, He cannot act against his nature, He cannot be God and not be God at the same time.
What omnipotence does mean is that God holds all power over his creation. No part of creation is outside his sovereign control. Therefore, there is an answer to the rock dilemma. The answer is no. The answer is that God cannot build a rock so big that he couldn't move it. Why? If God ever build such a rock, he would be creating something over which he has no power. He would be destroying his own omnipotence, which is impossible for him to do. God cannot stop being God; He can not not be omnipotent.
God's power is restricted by what and who he is.

God can be god and not be god at the same time hence us.
