some religions believe that you go on to the next life they way you left the last, that means that if you had a heart attack, you pretty much go on to the next life fine I presume, but what if you were a REALLY good guy, like a saint, but you happened to be caught inside a burning building and burned alive, going on to the next life as ashes certainly wouldnt be fair. of course, this is the kind of sense of humor god seems to have with my family.

some, which i don't recall do. Why do you think they burned witches at the stake? They burned joan of ark at the stake as well becuase though she said she heard the voice of god, many just thought she was hearing demons.

Well, it was particularly used to punish women who were found guilty of practicing witchcraft or being a heretic. The fire was seen as a way of cleansing the victim's soul as she was consumed. In some cases the women was burnt in the nude so that the onlookers would see her body being destroyed (and presumably to add entertainment value). Women were sometimes given the option of being strangled before they were burnt if they repented their sins. These burnings were done by the Roman Catholic church who does not believe or practice reincarnation in any form. (with the exception of Jesus)
