View Full Version : just nothing.
okay, this is not meant to be a 'bible is wrong' thread, but i am just wondering what is the story with dinosaurs. are they meant to have lived (biblically speaking) and if so, why the deathly silence on them? if they lived with people, i assume a twelve metre long reptile with teeth like daggers would have warranted some mention. cause twelve meters is pretty big. and why didn't noah put them on the arc? he saved lots of other unpleasant reptiles.
this is sometihng that interests me, although my presonal opinion is not in favour of the bible, i would like to know how religion deals with skipping somehting that would have made a huge impact on life.

This thread already exists. People like to use dinosaurs to contradict the bible, but if dinosaurs didn't exist, that would be a better case against the bible. See for yourself:
Job 40:15 (KingJamesVersion)
"Behold, Be'hemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox. Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron. "He is the first of the works of God;

i just saw the other thread. i guess ill read it tommorow or sometime. ta for pointing it out. right now i am off to bed.
also, is there many other tracts that mention (although enigmatically) perhaps dinosaurs?

Yeah, I know i've seen a tract somewhere about it. I dunno, I tend to hate tracts because you never know who's writing them. Many times it's some kind of fringe group. The people who come to my college and scream at everyone about abortion come to mind. Still I'm sure there's something you can check out that's both informative and biblically correct.

That could describe any random monster. There were myths about monsters before dinosaurs were even thought to have existed. Besides, this definately seems like a first-hand account, but dinosaurs died out literally millions of years (ok, carbon dating isn't that accurate, so give or take a few thousand) before humans were around. He was probably just on acid or somthing.

It's God talking to Job, so yeah, it's a firsthand account, but not a human first hand account. Also, the thick muscles, "tail like a cedar", and "eats grass like an Ox" are consistent wih the Apatosaurus. If it was some drunks first hand hallucination he probably would've said that it was a bloodthirsty beast. Not too mention "He is the first of the works of God" implies early creation, likely before Man.
surely since the whole creation took a week the order of specifics is not overly important. a week is not a long time.

Surely if man and dinosaurs had co existed since the beginning of time there would be more evidence then a couple of easily reinterpretable quotes from the bible, and furthermore what made all of them die out over the past few thousand years.

That's probably consistent with quite a few dinosaurs, because it's so vauge. Plus, there is no evidence of dinosaurs with bronze bones... and God should know what it's bones are made of, he created the thing.
"The first of the works of God". God created the earth in 6 days, so surely the order that animals were created in is as good as irrelevant?
