I am no devout christian, but it really pushes my buttons when people say, "I hate Jesus Christ" and "Jesus Christ is a pussy"

Did you know him? Or did you go back in time and beat his ass to find out first hand that Jesus was a pussy?

In my opinion, Jesus was the man. For one, he died for us, even if it was in vane, he still gave up his life for us, well at the time it was a bunch of dirty middle easterners. But still.

He has an army. Do you have an army?

YOU DONT!?!

I would say that is pretty pussy of you jesus-haters

Imaginary huh. You arevery ignorant to say that. Why then is it so widley accepted that he lived. Why would people fight wars & die for an imaginary figure. I've never heard of anyone going to war over santa claus or the easter bunny. Stupid statment.

Pussy? Punch who ever said that. Son of God? No. But there's some evidence Jesus and his boys were planning a vicious revolt against the Romans. And people who start vicious revolts are rarely pussies. Plus he wrecked up the marketplace in the temple.

Well, it's not really.

Where is all the contemporary evidence?

If you read the bible it says "look at what I have done, know that these things and more shall you do."

We are all as much son of god as Yoshoua was.

Well, everyone who fights in the name of God (at least all but one of the gods that people fight for must be false).

While baldingjerk is normally a dickhead, I have to agree with him on this one. Did jesus have an army? eh? (P.S. I'm not Canadian, we say 'eh' in England too.)

There is still much controversy over who that was.

Jesus' mother nor his disciples ever called him by that name.

Yes http://www.totse.com/bbs/cool.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/cool.gif)

What does that mean "son of god"? If god is our father/origin, are we all the sons/daughters/children of god?

When Yahshua/Jesus was condemned by the jews as a blasphemer, cause he called himself 'the son of god' they were ready to stone him to death, there and then, as their law demanded.

His succesful defence, was to ask why they were going to kill him for calling himself the son of god, when in fact their own law/scripture says - "you are Gods"(Psalms somewhere).

In using this defence, does Yahshua/Jesus put himself on the same level as everybody else?

And, having escaped the death penalty by doing so, was he - either a cowardly liar, or, affirming an important truth?

"Who am I?"

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate,

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure,

It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There’s nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine

We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear our presence automatically liberates others.

Above is from the book, Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson

Jesus is found in numerous other historical texts besides the bible. Roman records from that time period mention him several times. The historical account of Josephus, a Jewish historian working for the romans, actually says that Jesus was most likely the prophesied Messiah based on miracles and signs he performed. There is an abundance of evidence that points to Jesus visiting what is currently the Pakistan/Northern India area in the time period before beginning his ministry in his homeland. Discovery Civilzations on satellite had a show about it a while back, so I got curious and read a few books about it.

Hmm, if he believed Jesus was the Messiah, why was he Jewish rather than a Christian?

Besides, there is reason to think that Josephus' statements on Jesus were added later by a Christian scribe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josephus_on_Jesus).

Think of the writers of the New Testament, if anyone was going to know that it was a fabrication it was them. Yes, you might die for a lie, but for a lie you created and knew was false? Its a bit unrealistic

Nice call on the WMD though!

There is such a thing as a 'Messianic Jew' (http://www.jewsforjesus.org/)

If you believe Jesus Christ was the Messiah, I have a lot of trouble calling you anything other than a Christian (or subset thereof). That's pretty much the definition of the word.
