I think it was supposed to be a divine conception by god. Mary had more children with Joseph after Jesus was born.

I believe the whole virgin thing was a mistanslation. And even if it wasn't the story is that God made her pregnant. Why do people say stupid shit like this, have you ever heard the story? Obviously you've heard enough of it to know who she is so how could you not know the part about God impregnating her? And if you don't believe God impregnated her, then chances are you don't believe the story as a whole, so why even ask?

True. It doesn't even matter anyway, it's probably a metaphor or something.

Prove it. I do not see that in the Bible.

That might have something to do with the mistranslation of the word 'Virgin'. I believe thats the problem, they thought some word meant virgin when it meant something much different.

In later years, those who translated the bible felt that sex was a filthy, disgusting act, and that their lord and savior would not have been concieved through such sinful misdeeds.

Actually, Mary was raped by a Roman Soldier named Pantera, an act which led to the conception of Jesus.

Where do you get that from?

Yeah some more info on the "mistranslation" would be intresting too- it might make your proposition abit more than an "urban legend".

As I understand it the word that is translated into english as "virgin" could be taken to mean an unmarried woman or any young woman and not specifically a woman who hasnt had sex.
