I was Christian for some 5 years...I didn't really run into too many intolerant people. None of the other members of a conservative baptist church I went to thought I was going to burn for being a firm supporter of evolution, nor did they give me shit too much for my drug use. They asked me simply to try and give them up, and that they'd support me if I decided to try. Never had a serious problem with Christians.

The_Crusader: I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you. I'm not a big fan of Christian radio/TV, but it serves as a forum for people who want advice from a Christian.

If everyday his show was building a logical case for God and Jesus, there'd be no reason to listen to it everyday. And in my expirience, Christianity stands up to logic, otherwise i'd probably be abandoning/questioning my faith.

Unfortunatly thats not the case. In my experiences Christians who're out trying to convert people and what not don't just share thier views. Ive never had a Christian simply try to tell me what he thinks.

Infact its quite the opposite. They tell you what they 'know' and that you need to agree with them. A while ago [a few months?] there were Christians going around my neighbourhood and of course they came to my door. They asked me if I was a Christian and I told them I wasn't. They then proceeded to tell me that I had to forget whatever I was believing and follow Jesus Christ. I simply told them I will continue to believe what I believe and the one guy who was talking seemed to get pissed. He got very pissy and told me I was going to burn in Hell for not accepting Jesus Christ. I told him that its fine that he thinks that but his beliefs can't be proven as truth and I went to close the door. He put his hand up and held the door open and told me he was right and he knew the absolute truth. Once again, I said thats fine but his beliefs aren't necessrilly truth and can't be proven so, not to me anyways, and that I wasn't interested and I began to push the door. Now my door has one of those automatic closer things on it so I can't just push it closed fast so I had plenty of time to hear him call me a dirty sinner and then mutter about how I was a stupid atheist or muslim or buddhist 'god knows what'. He ended it with an old fashioned 'burn in hell!'.

Not at one point was I rude to him at all. I was tryuing to tell him I wasn't interested and that I didn't want to hear whatever he had to say. Instead of just leaving he got all pissed and had to go about how he 'knows' the truth and how I should burn in hell for not agreeing with him. To be honest I felt like smashing his head in for the last part of the conversation, but obviously I didn't. His little friend just stood there holding a bag and a stack of flyers and didn't say a word.

Now Ive had similar experiences quite a few times before. Never to this extreme but basically every experience Ive had dealing with Christians trying to 'spread the word' or whatever has been of this nature.

I have never not ONCE in my life had a person of any other religion act this way towards me. Yet I can think of several right off the top of my head regarding Christians.

Now that doesn't mean every Christian is like this, but by saying them going around trying to convert people is harmless and simply them expressing their viewpoint is pretty inaccurate. Im sure if you had soemone come to your door and ask you if you hate niggers and proceeded to tell you you were wrong and a dirty nigger lover for not hating them, it would piss you off. Especially if they decided to hold your door open to yell about how you need to die for not agreeing with you and things of that nature.

I have no problem with Christians but I can see why some people do. I see that these idiots do not represent the religion and that they're just annoying fucks who need a good smack, but the fact remains that they are still out there and when some people encounter enough of them they simply see it as a Christian problem not a problem with certain individuals. I agree Yazman. Thats about the extent of my problems with Christianity. Look at all the shit surrounding gay marriages right now and how it 'goes agaisnt God' and what not.

To be perfectly honest if a few religions had their way astro physics would be gone, modern medical science would stop progressing and a few other things would be halted no doubt. I think the problem is that a lot of religious people see science as an enemy to religion. For example if some physicist is working on theories about the big bang, they see this as a direct attack against creationism.

Like many other things though, its not only Christianity thats trying to step in the way of science. Though their influence greatly outweighs that of any other religion in North America, and it irritates me how the government [both US and Canadian] seems to put Christianity in mind when making certain decisions, yet they couldn't care less what other religions have to say about the matter, or the fact that religion and government are supposed to be kept seperate.

But the government is seriously fucked up and has a lot of fucking problems that go beyond that [and as far as I can tell the US government is far worse then the Canadian, but I don't wanna turn this into some politcal debate].

The Bible expressly states that Christians are to NOT judge non-Christians, rater they are to look for faults in their own life that need fixing.

um the deal over cloning is a moral issue. even non-christians oppose it. christians dont have much influence over science; independant labs and secular univercities will study what ever they want regaurdless of what 2nd Baptist Church down the street thinks about it.

Your wearing a blindfold if you think clones wouldn't have some serious stigma placed on them, not to mention the fact that clones would realize they don't really have a mom or dad when they are told their biological father and mother didn't even choose or have sex to get the kid, the clone is just some dna from some other person. That is why no fucking crazy ass doctor should be allowed to choose if the clone ie innocent person "exists" or not.
