this is something i thought of not too long ago.
lets take a moment to ponder religion. religion (all) says that god is an almighty being, greater than any human. but wouldnt a being greater than us be concerned with matters greater than us and disconcerned with the affairs of us? (this is natural law, which is the law provided by god)... (just as the head of a corporation is concerned with his corporation and not the likes of a farmer who is concerned with his dirt). so to think that god cares about us is impious, because it lowers god to our level, and if it does that, you are worshiping a mortal thing, something tangible, and "taking an idol", which is a mortal sin against god. so from this we can realise that to believe in god is a sin against god.
