It's all about saying "Yes" to the moment, because the moment is the only place where truth can be found. If your not focusing on the moment then you can only be thinking about something other than the moment. Something that is purely based on your current understandings of the universe. But since your thoughts are only formed from memories about life then they can never be accurate since memories are distorted.
Countless people avoid the moment out of fear. They are too afraid or unsure to experience the moment so they think about something else to distract them from "now".
But the moment is where real learning occurs. But people tend to "think" about anything other than the moment and during the while they try and develop their own truths.
Real spiritual learning and growth comes from the moment, so it's important to meditate or chant as a means to practice focusing on the moment and gaining the real knowledge from it. The real answers!! The kind of answers that are so complex that you can't even put them into words, you just feel and know their truth.
Thinking has its benefits, but if you lay your thinking aside and experience "Now", you'll learn at such a faster rate.
PS: Weed can help you experience the moment for the duration of being high, but if you are afraid of those particular moments and sometimes it's hard to thihk of anything else then you just might freak out.
