what would be the harm of believing in something that your not sure it exists,if it really helps you through your life

Who to atheists turn to when everyone else has let them down when they cant even turn to themselves?

If you have strong faith your whole life you cant be dissapointed you either go on to realize there is a god or you just die

so how could faith steer you wrong?

Faith steers you wrong when it starts interfering with your normal life. Instead of wasting your time going to church, or chanting prayers, or whatever, you could do something useful.

People with 'too much' faith don't believe scientific facts, but will starting singing the lord's prayer when someone else talks about 'being closer to god'.

When you're down, turn to your friends. If you have no one, start thinking about how to come out of it. If you're in depression, go to a doctor. There's no point in turning to something that *might* exist. Then, you're just going crazy.

If you want, you could become a deist.

But religion is a complete waste of time.
