What the fuck is Scientology?

I went to Scientology.org, but it doesn't answer my question.

Do they worship a god?

What are the beliefs?

Scientology=cult.

It was invented by L. Ron Hubbard as a cash cow. The basis of the religion is that some alien warlord dealt with overpopulation by chucking millions of aliens into volcanoes, and now the spirits of these aliens infest humans today and they are what cause our illnesses, both mental and physical. They provide "cleansing" services for outrageous amounts of money, have a very well enforced NDA, have propoganda and smear campaigns to ruin the image of most people who speak against them, and have attempted to gain status as a religion...luckily the US government isn't THAT fucking stupid and classifies the Church of Scientology as a business.

My mum told me she went to a scientology church or whatever they call it in the 1980's. for a fee of about £10(quite a lot on 1980) they offered to read her thetans or dianectic or something, i cant remmeber what, but she said they had this peice of crap machine which looked like something from an old sci-fi set which all it had was a place which printed out random graphs, and this was supposed to measure something about her, so they could cure her or something. apparently she just laughed because it was such a load of rubbish and just there to empty peoples pockets.

its a money making scam, made by some sci-fi writer who once said "a penny a word wont make you rich, the way to get rich is to invent a religion" or something like that...then he invented scientology and went on tv saying he had visions from aliens or something like that. its just a crazy cult.

It is an accurate measuring device used to measure any source of abberation in the spirit. (thetan) I have tested the E-meter several times myself, and it does work. If you think about anything painful while holding the two holders the needle will actually jump as soon as you think about the pain. No, they don't. My uncle was involved in Scientology for 13 years; it ruined his life. They kept trying to get him to go for more "cleansings", but he had spent his entire inheritance on that bullshit cult. You think benevolent people would be kind enough to help fellow man out if they had the true cure.

And the E-Meter as you call it, is simply a lie detector...it senses when the body loses rhythm due to insecure thoughts, or various ranges of other things (and pain is most definitely uncomfortable, and will register on any standard lie detector as the subject reacts). Scientology is a load of bullshit created by a money hungred writer who has been ACCURATELY QOUTED as saying the way to make money is to invent a religion...and guess what? He did.

There is a reason the government declares Scientology a business and not a religion; it serves no spiritual purpose, it is a money making corporation. Any positive side effects one experiences from a 'cleansing' diminish quickly after, giving a very firm claim to plecebo effect. My uncle has luckily gotten his life back on track since he left the CoS, and he is much much happier now without his 'cleansings'. Fuck you and your support of a verifiable cult.

...I have to admit; I think it's all pretty cool. But on the other hand they do hurt people, so I don't know... I’m sure my feelings would change if Scientology actually affected my life, but as it is I just dig reading about it.

I'll wage war against Scientology; I get along with Christians and other religions just fine, but Scientology is just too fucked up. They're like Christianity was back in the 1600's.

How can some of you people come up with these conclusions, when obviously you have never even read a thorough book of his. All you do is read something or hear something bad and untrue then believe it. Scientology is something you have to experience for yourself. You cannot just hear or read something bad or untrue and come to the conclusion that it is true. Ugh, This is not even worth my effort because most of you cannot except any other reality than your own. Bye now.
