is it because, for whatever reason, you have to have someone to look down on?

from my POV, i dont care if you beleive in god, your reasons for doing so or not doing so....i just dont care. i believe, and thats all that matters.

but the god haters want me to prove my beliefs, i guess because there judgment has to matter to me. they want to call me brainwashed, an idiot, weak minded, afraid of death etc etc etc.

if they were trying to convince instead of insult, that would be one thing. but i see NONE of that here. its just grade school name calling bullshit.

For there to be any decent debate or an answer from the "God-haters," you're going to have to define God. What is it exactly that they hate?

People use the term God to mean all sorts of things, and I doubt there are any two people alive who view "God" exactly the same way. Then again, no two atheists have the same worldview either. If you mean God as a generic creator (that somehow trumps the requirement of its own creation) that could or could not exist and hasn't revealed itself to humanity, well, that really gets you nowhere. You'll have to define your God in explicit terms; what its physical characteristics are (anthropomorphic/vaporous/invisible), whether it is omnibenevolent (so that the God-haters can point out the fallacies of that), whether it is omnipotent (so that the logical contradictions of that can be demonstrated), whether it is omniscient (so that those deiphobic motherfuckers who hate God can elucidate their concerns over the logical contradictions of omniscience), none of the above, etc.

I agree with you that ad hominem bullshit is stupid in debates, but frankly, I don't see any of that on My God ...

Most of the stuff here is decent discussion, and the amusing topics are good for entertainment.

I guess most atheists view the religious as idiots. To them, beliefs in God, praying, worship and "sin" seem as stupid as taking mythological creatures, Santa Claus and other blatantly human constructs seriously. It's the very nature of atheism to think religion is stupid. It's obviously in other people's natures (the religious) to buy into fantasies and easy, a priori explanations for the unexplainable.

Hmm... I don't think it is only "god haters", there is a type of people who will always try to prove you wrong, no matter what you do or in what you believe.

Religion doesn't really matter.

They just hate when people have different opinion, probably opposing people is their meaning of life.

What's with the assumption among a lot of people that being religious or believing in god automatically means that a person is stupid and unintelligent? That's just as intolerant as they so often accuse religious people of being. Considering that there's no real proof of either the existance or non-existance of god, I believe it to be a pretty safe bet either way.

You can't prove something doesn't exist. You can prove something does - but apparently the theists haven't been trying very hard.

There are idiots on every side. Some muslims think people are stupid for not being muslim. Some atheists think others are idiots for not being atheists. Some christians think everyone else is stupid for not believing in christianity. Unfortunatly there is little that can be done about this. If you can find a belief that doesn't have any of these kind of people, it's probably the right way to go. Unfortunatly, it doesnt look like any of the worlds beliefs qualifies.

I "hate" god because of what people have told me of it/him/etc... "oh you need to live this way or you'll go to hell."

So in all seriousness I don't hate God. I just hate the opinions anyone has to say. There are many things I can't see yet are still there. Such as the micro-organisms I KILL everyday. "Oh you kill, then god hates you." What a fucking joke. Please try to stop the opression of right or wrong. Cause there isn't any. Or maybe there is. There is an intention for every action we make, isn't there?

I do respect your opinions though people do tend to "force" an IDEA using an ego that has been there so long it isn't really going to change.

Heh...to hate god you mst beleve in god, so it seems the people you consider atheists are really satanists. I have never called the religious idiots for the sole reason that they prove that they are when they try and debate. The only decent argument seems to be whats-his-names wager, which the religious use to claim that us atheists are idiots for not becoming a mindless drones for some religion and wasting our life in preperation for an afterlife which for a saint of any religion promises to be equally boring, for all eternity. The reason there are no decent arguments here is that everyone is set in there beleifs and consider any attempt to wisen them to be a personal insult.

Edit: I take the part about never calling the religious idiots back, but I beleve I justified it in the post I put it on.
