View Full Version : My ideas about the existance of God

Technically its "impossible" for something to emerge from nothing. (This includes the Big Bang theory, the gasses and matter came from somewhere, right?) And dont get started on the Steady State theory, because for something to exist for infinity, it would have had to have remained totally unenergized and unmoved. According to physics, the universe is expanding, which suggests a point of beginning.

So, if something comes from nothing, whats to say that a "spirit" didnt come from here. Maybe the base form of existence is consciousness. Consciousness seems to not be a set system of action/reaction like in a closed system, its more like a system where anything can happen (I.E. you can think of anything) and its influenced by some force which you consider to be yourself, but you dont really know.

Im not looking for converts. Im just saying that if there are so many unanswered questions to the universe, to keep your mind open just a bit. I believe an almighty creator IS possible. Maybe God is the concept of existence. Maybe he is a being that does not have free will, because he cannot commit evil.

U were taught that "magical" things like this were impossible. After all, how can something non-physical like "consciousness" exist as some form of energy? Who determines what is possible? Anything is possible, and you cant prove otherwise. If the existence of something from nothing is possible, then I believe God is possible.

Im not sure if I can make you understand this concept, but what Im saying is that nothing determines if something is possible in this universe. Just because you dont understand something doesnt make it any more or less possible, and no matter how far-fetched this idea sounds, its still possible.

Isn't the empty canvas that would become the universe pretty much the same thing as conscienceness? Just like the conscience part of the brain, it's like an empty space where anything can happen.

The idea of the causer whom isn't caused is not new, but it is sort of compelling. If the big bang is the explosion that started the motion of everything, then god is the one who exists outside of it and lit the match.

It's an idea that i think works as well as any other theory, and i personally believe it has some weight to it, but I already believe in God for illogical reasons so it didn't really provide proof for me.

*existance* -> existence

*unenergized* -> not a word

*have remained* -> remain

*conscienceness* –> consciousness

*conscience* –> conscious

Just thought I'd point out a few things for future reference.

We know shit-all about conciousness - I don't think it's even worth speculating about. It's like the ancient Greeks talking about earth, water, fire and air.

If you don't know anything about consciousness then how do you know that we don't know anything about consciousness?

We very well may know something about it. We just don't know we know. Unless we choose to believe that we know.

Do you believe anything? Because to believe something is to believe that you know something.

Anyone who says that we don't know shit about consciousness is lying, because that is something that they believe they know.

Anyway we know that consciousnes exists, so that's a start.

We know that we are consciousness (Or at least I know I am).

I know that there is more to consciousness than nothing.

I know, as consciousness, that there are beliefs about myself that I feel comfort from and beliefs about myself that make me afraid.

I know, as consciousness, that I doubt my perfection.

Can you lay your hand on your heart and say that you, as a consciousness, don't know these things?

I think what Cratian means, which i agree with is that we don't know what causes conscienceness, we don't know if humans are the only one's who have it, we don't know if it can be simulated artifically, we don't know if it's one of the functions of the brain, we don't know if it exists in the heart or anywhere else for that matter, we don't know at what point a person becomes conscience, we don't know if it even is a part of the body, we don't know if it could be transferred to another body, we don't know anything about it.

I think it's fair to say that consciecness *does* exist in some form because i think therefore i am, etc.

It is my personal belief that our conciousness is in itself much like a God. I believe that our conciousnesses invent these bodies and frames, invent the world in everything in it and all the rest. It would simply be like a mass communal lucid dream, where everyone has a bit of control and death is more of an alarm clock than anything else. That goes along with Grinko's soliloquy about belief in God. And I still cannot believe how readily we as a race dismiss the most fundamental of senses; that of our concious mind. It seems as though most have either never experienced or immediately discredit the feeling of awareness to something that is you but is not your physical body. I mean a feeling beyond logic, where you simply feel it as though an animal might and where emotions are played out like colors on a canvas. But, alas, I am called crazy for my feelings regarding the senses we do not allow ourselves to have. Maybe when people stop being such stereotypical nihilsts and start trying to look beyond themselves.
