Y'know, if you called yourselves "Selfists" or even "Secular Humanists" you wouldn't have to indignantly correct people when they (quite reasonably) assume you worship the devil.
But then, you wouldn't get one hundredth of the attention that way, would you?

I think I can safetly say that most of us aren't Satanists. We see enough discrepencies with the Christian faith. Why I personally, would go to the otherside of that same faith, I'd never know.
Say what you please, you don't have to give us attention if you belief we are attention whores, now do you?

I always assumed the whole idea of modern Satanism was the attention. They use the same propanganda techniques that Christians use (shock, generalities, glaring truth, etc.) to attract people to the message and then preach as usual, they just happen to be slightly more upright in their morals. No matter how much I agree with their views, I must accept and acknowledge that it is indeed just propaganda that they use and that they are no better in that respect than their Christian brothers. That is why I prefer this kind of religious discussion format. You cannot see my eyes, my face, my skin, my body, my gender, my ideals or my heart. The only thing you have to judge me on are my words that I give to you. It is much more pure that way.
I'm not a satanist, but I do know quite afew sites that have the varying versions of it(Not all "parts" of it are anti-christian, though ALOT of the modern stylings are).
http://www.apodion.com/vad/
http://altreligion.about.com/library/grimoires/bl_goetia12.htm
http://joyofsatan.com/ - Modern Ideas, so alot of Anti-Christian/New Age Ideas.
http://www.geocities.com/llfptfu/llf2.html - Same As Joy Of Satan.
And Finally: http://altreligion.about.com/library/faqs/bl_satanism.htm
The last site I listed is probally the best one of them all. It talks about the ideas of both new, old and dabblers. As well as showing what true Satanists believe.
I decided to put this because so many people believe Satanism to be the opposite of Christianity, but really, depending on the sect you practice you could be, but if you are a traditional you are not Anti-Christian.
As well, most people who claim they are Satanists are not true Satanists, but are only Dabblers, doing it for the shock effect and the awe it gives in the underground culture.

True satanists are not allowed to talk about their religion outside of their sect.
I was once a third reich priestess, and am now a Christian...
I have been to both sides of the fence.
Neither is easy.

He's lying. Christians "occult experts" often claim to be "ex-satanists", or "involved in the occult before I found christ". His only interest is brainwashing free thinking people, sucking them into his vile little cult.
Don't think they won't lie, because they WILL.
Heres a nice example: http://www.saintsalive.com/freemasonry/fmoccult.htm
These morons refer to Aleister Crowley as "the father of modern satanism"
which is rather funny, I always thought the religion he started was called Thelema.
His first wife became an alcoholic after her first child died, and second became ill, her being in an asylum had nothing to do with Him.
The whole thing is full of shit, but the best bit is this:
quote:
In a locked room with only Crowley and his son present, Crowley performed a ritual in which his son died.
This is rather amusing, because Aleister Crowley never had a son, he had two daughters.
It could be argued that he fathered illegitimate children, but thats hardly the point, as there as NO historical evidence of this event occuring.
Of course, it would be a bit hard to tell what was going on, since it was supposedly "in a locked room, with no one but Crowley (and his supposed son) present"
I'm not going to argue that Crowley wasnt a drug addled delusional in the later years of his life, possible more of his life, but the infomation this "ministry" provides is totally false.
Hmm... got off track a bit...

oh... and I should probably give breif mention to the satanic panic bullshit, particularly in the 80s.
There was never a single reported case, yet supposedly, according to evangelical's (aka - fucking morons) there were thousands of victims, huge, nationwide coven's abducting people, womem in the cults birthing babies for sacrifice, and all that sort of rubbish, reminicent of Catholic Bullshit from a few hundred years ago.
Yet no evidence ever turned up. Of course, plenty of "victims" and "ex-satanists turned born again christians" have published books on the matter, but there has never been a single arrest.
Edit:
I remembered another incredibly stupid thing used on the websites of Evangelicals (fucking morons).
They still try to use THIS: http://www.snopes.com/religion/wellhell.htm
Geologists working somewhere in remote Siberia had drilled a hole some 14.4 kilometers deep (about 9 miles) when the drill bit suddenly began to rotate wildly. A Mr. Azzacov (identified as the project's manager) was quoted as saying they decided that the center of the earth was hollow.
Supposedly, the geologists measured temperatures of over 2,000 degrees in the deep hole. They lowered super sensitive microphones to the bottom of the well, and to their astonishment they heard the sounds of thousands, perhaps millions, of suffering souls screaming.
Edit: I might give some examples: http://www.branchministry.net/bibleteachings/hellsounds.htm

Learn some written comprehension and cognitive skills before you reply, retard. I'm stating since the VAST majority of Satanists don't worship Satan, or believe he exists, the point of calling themselves Satanists is just for the attention they'll recieve. And I'm dead fucking right.

What would I hope to gain by lying, as a Christian ? Hypocrisy looks good on no one.
My heart changed after my sect attempted an infant sacrifice. I couldn't justify that for the purpose in which it was intended, and I chose to disappear from that town.
Once you leave, you either disappear, or you are "removed", to put it nicely.
Feeling something so oppresively powerful, it occured to me that there had to be something of the direct opposite in effect.
My father had been a hypocritical preacher my whole life, which is why I chose to follow a darker path...mostly in rebellion.
My level of anger and hostility towards the human race was disgusting, and though I did not recognize it then, I realize I was on my way to prison for homicide.
It was only by the grace of God that I am here today, with the point of view that I have.
It's kind of like being a cop...you probably won't be very effective unless you find yourself going from the back seat to the front.
If you don't hang around with drug dealers, how can you know what they think, how they act, and where they go ?
If I had not had my occult experience, I would not be as certain as I am that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, there is a Creator, and He is worthy of worship and praise.
When you experience something as profoundly spiritual as I have, you cannot deny the truth of a living God.

That was a pretty impressive tangent...though it had nothing to do with the question for which you posted an answer.

Sorry if I sound ignorant, but what are "secular humanists"? Because in the belief-o-matic test secular humanism came in second, after "Unitarian Universalism"
I am pretty sure that I am very far away from satanism, probably from any religion, I would call my self in first place an agnostic and an atheist.
1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
2. Secular Humanism (98%)
27. Roman Catholic (15%)
P.S. Pffft, why do I belong to roman catholic?

Well, I'm an atheist, but true 'Satanists' are based off of the Sumerian trinity and their main god, Enki. Christianity condemned and destroyed most of the practices of that and made their own mythology about demons and devils and what not based off of cults descending from it all, like the Knights Templar and their supposed relation to Baphomet. Then disillusioned and misinformed people took to worshipping ketchup men with pitchforks and what not...guess it rings with the crop circle crowd. They're essentially supporting Christianity in that now the clergy has a physical thing to point to for their make-believe tales. Funny that so many people like to stick themselves to stories made up by priests...
