Lent is the time in the Christian faith where you await the crucifiction of Jesus. Catholics give of meat, they fast, etc. In the church I used to go to (Episcopal), and many others (Baptist, Methodist, and most other denominations), the priests go on a sales pitch for Lent and urge the congregation to give up something they love to symbolize Jesus's sacrifice. It's usually somethin trite and meaningless such as giving up chocolate or soda, but what if....

(Now for the cool thought.....)

...If the congragation loved Jesus the most, why didn't they give Jesus up for Lent? Seriously. Why didn't they give up God for Lent....

Not they give up unhealthy food usually like chocolate or food you can live without and only eat to enjoy like steak or something.

Maybe I said it wrong or it went over your heads...

I may have said it wrong also, this is what I meant...

Giving something up is to symbolize the sacrifice he made (Jesus) and therefore it is supposed to be something we LIKE. (God LIKED Jesus, didn'tya know...)

So if they LIKE Jesus and want to show him this they should give him up becuase they LIKE him

No fair! I was the one who told you that. It maeks sense to me. Seriously, if we are supposed to give up something that we love to represent jesus's sacrifice of his life, which he did love, on the cross, than shouldn't a truly devout Christian give up god? I've said it before and I'll say it again: I have no problem with anyone's faith, but their religion sure does fuck things up a bit.

That's a kinda cool idea. When you think about, God had to give up Jesus, and Jesus had to go without his triune relationship to God (to some degree).
