Look I know this seems a little trivial but its been on my mind alot for the past few days. If I dont believe in any God Stuff how can I say "God Dammit" or "Jesus Christ!" This is sort of important to me because I curse alot and I feel like im contradicting myself. Any suggestions are welcome.

I still do it too. I would say that its just a habit as was suggested in a topic I did asking the same thing.

Then what do you suggest I say?

"I hope you die." "Hillbillies fuck you!" "May your house burn down with you and your family inside."

...use your imagination; all a curse is for is to hope bad happenings on someone/thing or a particular situation.

A well placed, "Ah fuck!" gets across the same meaning as "God damnit!" or "Jesus Christ!"

I always say "Jesus Christ" or "God damnit", for me they're the same as saying "fuck" or somthing. It's equally meaningless, just satisfying to say.

The meaning of cuss words isn't very important. How many people actually mean "God damn it!" literally when they say it?

I kind of like "By Mohammed's beard!" myself.

an athiest can still say god damn it and such because the person there cursing at or whoever hears it most likely beleives in god, and even if they dont they know what the expression means.

curses are not literal. in the same way as "fuck it" does not mean start rooting it, 'jesus fucking christ' does not have anything to do with him. 'god damn it' does not mean that the person whats god to damn it.

they are not meant to be literal. they have no meaning. if you get offended by someone swearing, then go pray some more or something. no one cares.

Your first two examples I agree with but the third I don't if someone who believed in god said it then they would be asking for god to dam whatever it is.

If you're not cursing to god because you don't believe in him, curse the random fluxuations in the space-time continuum.

If you're really concerned by the fact that you're invoking the name of something numinous that you don't believe in, you'd better stop saying "good-bye" as well, since that has its origins in "God be with ye."
