View Full Version : People are like computers

When you think about it, humans and life are alot like computers. In the brain, chemical processes go on, much like the processes in a computer. A person can get sick, and a computer can get "sick" as well. The brain works with electrical pulses, just like a computer. A brain has memory cells, and so does a computer. When a person dies, they shut down, like a computer. They both work basicaly along the same principles. So how can there be a soul of a person when they die? A computer does not have a soul. But then I have to ask myself, what is a soul? Electric and chemical impulses in your brain? How in the hell can that be "carried to another plane"? A computer, as far as I am aware of, does not. I really cant get what I am trying to say to words. I guess a soul is just really your brain. I mean really, how the fuck could brain cells be carried on after life. I do not believe there is anything after life. Just like how a computer just..shuts down..and nothing happens afterwards. I would really like to believe that after death, there is something afterwards, but I really cant see how the fuck that could happen. But, like I said before, I have no idea how to get what I am thinking to words. Maybe you could understand, I dont know. That is just my point of view on life....and for my view on religion. I believe, like some people here, that it is a way of keeping people on order. I dont have a problem with a christian, a muslim (SP?), a buddist, or any other religous person. I respect them for fully following thier beliefs, and not disobaying their "master". I hate people that laugh at peoples beliefs, and spit in their face...and..uh..thats all I have to say

Life is nothing like a computer. Life is full of grey, and a computer is black and white, on or off 0 or 1.
Your comparison of a human brain is so simplistic, its missing the main functions.
Does a computer have consciousness? Is a computer self aware. Can a computer think for itself. No.
Think of a better analogy.
Edit:
I can honestly not think of myself as being dead forever. My soul is immortal, I can't even imagine not being anymore. Were I go I don't know, but all I know is that I will be aware of my existance.
Its an instinct.

DNA is just a set of instructions, much like a computer program. DNA is like the source code for building a life form.

Computers are different from the human brain in a lot of ways.
If you want to argue against the existence of the soul, "Where's the evidence?" does a pretty good job.

We can already interface computers with the human brain, so we are not entirely as different as some may think.

DNA is more like a blueprint and repair manual than a computer program. DNA contains the sequences of amino acids to make proteins and other substances. DNA is a tool used by the cell when it needs a protein. Computer programs are imput into a computer but do not serve the computer.

Yeah, although dna isnt exactly a blueprint... not in the way of, "brain cell A goes here". More of instructions for the basics, and the patterns that make up everything.
