What I'm interested in, is Who exactly wrote the bible and everything related to it? Sniper Piper, I am looking for your input here.

Excuse me, I have to correct myself on my first post. The four evangelists wrote the four gospels of the Bible. The Bible as a whole was composed by various unknown writers throughout the time period of Jesus.

Approximately 30 people contributed to the Old Testament, if you bother reading it you can see most of their names throughout it.

Why does it really matter who wrote the Old Testament books anyway? It's not like you are going to find out any accurate details about how they lead their lives.

I think a hardcore christian such as sniper piper would probably answer something to the effeft of why does it matter God wrote it.

I would answer it as it doesn't matter because I don't really see it to be taken literally. Metaphors laced with messages as a piece of the puzzle that is this puzzling puzzling life. There is a book with the same title of this thread that goes into it. I picked it up and lost interest sometime into, however, so I can't really say if it's of any use.

Or if this post is of any use. Eh, what's it matter?

I just wanted to see if any one thought their god wrote it. Or if any was a direct quote from Jesus or whatever. I'm not really sure what I want out of this thread to be honest. The bible makes a good read, being full of violence and all, lol.

I always thought God wrote it, then men changed it to what they saw fit.

If God wrote anything....dont you think you ought to find out what he said?

By the way, they were inspired by God...(at least that's what we Christian's believe)

2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

1 Peter 1:23 - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Loc Dogg - You are assuming that God is not powerful enough to sustain His word.

What good would it be to us if we were able to change it to the extent that the implied purpose of it was lost ?

Oh, I forgot one verse for the post previous to this one:

2 Peter 1:20-21

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Your own book claims that we have volition; wouldn't god be violating his greatest gift to humans were he to stop us from corrupting his book?
