I believe in a higher power. I believe that this higher power is in fact, nothing but a pyromaniac and we, the super-organism, are the inevitable result of an infinite number of atoms and proteins smacking into each other and evolving over billions of years. I believe that the claims made about God by all religions are unsubstantiated and false, although religion does make a wonderful security blanket. So tell your thoughts on this matter, no matter how abstract.

I'm an agnostic. I have an overwhelming feeling reached through all I've learned and experienced that there is indeed Something Going On. A Grand Design, if you will.

But exactly what, none of us can say. I don't believe that God writes books, or sends sons down to save us all, or that any religion thought up by humans has more than a few grains of truth to them. Religions I think are to be learned from, not taken as Gospel (no joke intended). Religion is an extremely useful tool, nothing more, nothing less.

Anyway... There is definitely Something Going On. What, exactly, is the mystery. Why is an even greater mystery.

There probably is a god, or a higher power, or a grand design, whatever you want to call it. But it also probably isn't like anything you'll learn about in religion in the year 2004 on earth.

He exists, but he most certainly does not care. He is on the other end of the microscope, the scientist dangling the cheese for the rat at the end of the maze.

We are his big science project, basically.

I believe in a higher power, because that's all AA and NA requires me to believe in.

If Gods do exist then they are doing an impeccable job of making it appear as if they don't.

My "higher power" is my consciousness. But it seems kind of silly and absurd to even call it that because it's not more powerful than me, and it's certainly not exalted to any kind of supremacy.

It only exists as long as my brain is functioning. It wasn't there before me and it will no longer be there when I cease to exist.

There is no separation point. It doesn't directly observe "me" and I do not directly observe "it". We are one in the same.

It's a beautiful thing, really.

It serves me as a "tool" only as long as I condition and exercise it. And it's there for my taking whenever I choose to utilize it. Without it, I would cease being. Without me, it would not matter. We're co-dependents. I refuse to acknowledge it as a god, and it refuses to take me seriously.

I don't blame "it" for all the injustices, suffering and strife in this world and it doesn't hold me accountable for having the reactions I do to all this excessive stimuli.

Did I mention that it was a beautiful thing?

The theroy of a pyromaniac God fits in with most scientific theroy. As far as I know no physist has come up with a good reason for the big bang to happen.

alright, so you say god doesn't exist or doesnt care? Well lets look at the foundation of the christian religion... Is it this?

-God makes it evident that he exists, and he gives you candy and sex and a wonderful life, if you believe? No. Think about it. If your life sucks and nothings changing, does that mean God doesn't exist? What would be the point for god to put us on earth if we were all going to believe, and we were all going to think god "cares". What's the definition of care? Maybe he's indirectly helping your sad pathetic life out??? Hmmm... Think about it. Where does the word FAITH come from. You know? And, if you're not sure God exists or not, and you think our souls will just plain END at the end of our lives, WHAT's the problem with believing in God, don't you want a plan B?
