Ever since my best friend moved up to South Carolina he has been going to church. Whenever he calls he starts preaching and telling me that drugs are works of the devil and he also signs me up for these religious newsletters. He knows I dont believe in any sort of god but he will not stop. Anyone else have anything like this happen to them? Anyone else sick of it?

You friend has been brainwashed, probably by bullshit-baptists.
But I'm sure that you already know that.
No, it hasn't happened to me, luckily, I live in Australia, and the fundies aren't nearly as bad, although its getting worse, they are trying to get Howard to ammend the marriage act to destroy any hope of Gay marriage.
I'm sick of hearing people complain about it, so in effect, I'm sick of it. Theres a few people on these forums who will protest that this doesn't happen all that often, but it DOES happen.
I used to have stacks of "wiccan" friends in the states, serious ones though, who had been with it before Charmed and Buffy were on TV, but anyway, they had some real horror stories.
Things like being forcibly held down while priests attempted to exorcise the devil from them, and other shit like that.

Don't hate your ex-friend. He's just propagating his religious memes because that is the only way they can survive as replicators. He's just a tool, and doesn't realize the brevity of how brainwashed he is.
whatever you do, dont get suckered in. Propagate your own memes, instead. No one really wins, but hey - at least you're not just acting like a big absorbent sponge without putting any of your own ideas out there.
