I've been reading a lot about Church of Latter-Day Saints theology, not because I want to join, just because some of their beliefs are just so off-the-wall. I have noticed that Mormons are really good at beating around the bush and going off on tangents when answering questions about some of their more (for lack of a better word) bizarre beliefs, such as, that Moromons go to a planet called Kolob when they die, and become gods of their own planets where they live with their families.

Also, "spirit children" are created on this planet Kolob, and when a baby is conceived on Earth, the spirit child takes off at speeds faster than light to occupy the body of this newly formed child.

Also, Mormons believe that LDSism is the chief religion of thousands of planets in the Milky Way!

Do Mormons really believe this stuff, or is this junk that I just came across on the internet?

I got this information from this website:

http://nowscape.com/mormon/mormons4.htm

Can someone tell me if this is true, do Mormons really believe this? I can't seem to find any in-depth info on this on the internet, and I don't trust the website that told me this 100%.

Thanks.

Never though of Mormons as UFO types. That could be a mordern iterpretaion of their text. Next time some Mormans wake me up I will ask them if that is a comon belief.

I would have joined them if they had kept the multiple wives deal, and then their not drinking booze (or anything else really) totally lost me.

I guess there aren't too many Latter-Day Saints on Totse (besides trichocereus pachanoi's girlfriend), I was hoping to get an answer from someone in the Church. http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/frown.gif)

from the limited experiences I've had talking to mormons, your description is pretty accurate. It's simplified, but accurate.

but all the ones I've talked to, like you mentioned, sure do love to beat around the bush.

oh, as far as kolob, it's also been explained to be that it's a "plane," not a "planet," but i've heard both.

I dont know much about them but one time a long time ago Two tall mormons with Irish accents and raincoats on came to my door and I was surprised that such types would come into my neighbourhood, and me being polite and such gave them a little bit of my time out of politeness and asking them a couple of questions , And i remember them telling me something like "Jesus returned to earth in 1914 or 1921" or something to spread the word and thats what they beleive in, thats what they follow but i dont recall them saying anything about other planets or anything like that,They gave me rosary beads with a cross on it and a st christopher medal ,a panthlet. these people are realy nice and you should invite them into your home for a cup of tea. They will also babysit your children for free.

I'm Mormon, and I've never heard of anything like what the thread starter was posting.

But didn't you say that you are not a practicing Mormon ? Are you just Mormon by association because your parents are Mormon, or did you come to that faith of your own accord ?
