it started in the desert and other dry places where water was sparce and so cleaning was difficult and it was a lot easier to clean and keep clean down there without the extra skin.

I dont remember pain. It hasnt caused me any trauma.

As for Christians, as i understand it, we are not required by God to be circumsized, so it is done as tradition..ceremony.

It is a lot cleaner to be circumsized. There are less diseases and it is not as simple as this Moron put it. Being circumsized as a baby allows you to forget the pain. Why it it better to operate on babies with little or no anithetic? Isn't an adult better equipt to make decitions on what body parts they want to keep? And what diseases are you talking about? If you live in the desert and have limited acess to fresh water it might be a good idea. Why would you do surgery when washing is equaly effective?

Before the mid 1800s a person undergoing surgery was in for a terrifying time.

In those pre- anaesthetic days, there was nothing to dull the pain.
