I got high the other day and found that I completely understand why people believe in God. But it might not be for the reasons you're thinking of. Humans desire closeness because of the desire to breed. Preferably we would like a perfect being to be close to, right? A perfect being who loves us and who we love in return. Someone who is always there for you. A best friend, but better. And he loves you more than anyone else ever could. It's the greatest idea ever, isn't it? It's the reason people feel empty without God. Because we have the need for love and God can fill it like no other. There is no God, but it's a damn comforting thought to think that there is one. But what makes no sense is the God that damns people to hell. It seems like the great loving dude wouldn't do such a thing. He may instead let you know his love and then leave you without it. Let you feel what it is to be away from him. You will quickly learn and he will admit you back into the love (or heaven or whatever) because you see that you were wrong. The wrathful terrible God conflicts with my guy. He's all about the punishment. Preventing stupid people from doing stupid things. It makes no sense. Of course none of it makes sense because there is no God, but the fact that the loving dude would send you to hell is even less logical than the idea that he would exist. If he is there, he doesn't care about sin and such things. He only cares about love and not being an asshole. And if you are an asshole, learning from it. That's why religion blows

Wow... that was unfathomably stupid.

The God thing... the 'no hell cause it's illogical', the 'closeness because of a desire to breed'... I mean... it started off bad and just got progressively worse.
