With all due respect to the original poster, how many times is this thread going to be created ?

Just watch the others respond to each other. You will figure it out.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,*

creator of heaven and earth.*

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,*

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,*

born of the Virgin Mary,*

suffered under Pontius Pilate,*

was crucified, died, and was buried;*

he descended to the dead.*

On the third day he rose again;*

he ascended into heaven,*

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,*

and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.*

I believe in the Holy Spirit,*

the holy catholic church,*

the communion of saints,*

the forgiveness of sins,*

the resurrection of the body,*

and the life everlasting.

wow, profound. Most of the wealthy are Catholic so the Church is a fraud. You have some good reasoning skills.

That is not what he said. he said that they are rich BECAUSE of the scams. Not that because they are rich its a scam.

But hey if they are the most wealthy i think i might just change religion......

"and by the way, the catholic curch is just a scam, a fraud to get money"

Prove it. Otherwise this is simply your opinion. Quit preaching it as fact.

Converting to Catholicism is not a 'get rich quick' scheme...

His reasoning was that by seeing mostly rich Catholics, then Catholicism is a scam to get rich

I believe in that which is inherently good and has been reiterated in people such as Jesus. I believe in cause and effect. I believe that Jesus doesn't like acts like some Christians exploiting underdeveloped countries for material wealth, greedy bureaucrats, and atrocities in the name of Christ, because in his words he has expressed so. Jesus said himself that the worst of sins was to use the Christian faith for evil, and evil was already defined by his words and his own actions and death.

If we are going to discuss the evils or the unbased accusations of evils of the Church, then make a new thread.

How can you prove religion to someone? Its probably the most subjective thing there is, you either believe it or you don't.

I don't because of the following example:

"God created the universe 6 thousand years ago"

"Then why does it look like its 12-15 billion then?"

"See science is uncertain about the age"

"Yes but the uncertainty is 3 billion years and the difference between what you are saying and the observations made is about 12."

"God made it look that way"

"Wouldn't it be easier if he made it 12 billion years ago, rather than go through all the trouble of creating an illusion for us?"

"NO, you don't understand, you have to believe"

I've had that conversation a few times now and each time it boils down to "You don't believe the bible because you don't believe what the bible says". One of the principle ideas behind catholism seems to be that you have to believe what ever you are told by the bible, no matter that it's been edited a few times to suit what the then current form of government deemed right.

These are the only 5 things I know to be true.

1) Nice guys always finish last, they'll always be "the good friend."

2) Chinese food smells like shit if you leave it in the back seat of your car over night during the summer.

3) My balls itch at least 3 times per day, but I've never got caught scratching.

4) I eat way too much ice cream when I'm stoned.

5) Drugs are too expensive.

The Catholic faith doesn't believe in the creation in Genesis anymore. The pope has said that the creation story was just a metaphor for evolution, or whatever the truth is. The only real creationists left are fundamentalist Christians, and they are not Catholic. By the way, I'm not fundamentalist, I'm Catholic. I was trying to say that the Catholic religion has not given up on science as many people believe. I fully believe in evolution, the big bang etc. but still consider myself Catholic.

Ever notice that fundamentalists ignore the fundamentals of their religion?

Seconded.

And Zman, not to bust your balls but what you put down is stale. It's said sans feeling by anybody I've heard say it. Care to elaborate?

I realize this is a little... late, but you misunderstood. I was not asking anyone to prove religion. I was asking Alpha/Omega to prove his claim that 'the catholic church is just a scam'.

Yeah, that's it. Just wanted to clarify that...
