View Full Version : The Religous Right

The majority are down with capital punishment, religous commercialism, war, and selfishness in dealings with the disadvantaged. Yeshua was a man for the life of all, against mercantilism within the faith, a man of peace, and most of his aquaintances and friends were of the lowest class.
I don't understand how these people can, in good conscience, claim to be doing the Lord's work in politics and life while they support the very things that Jesus dedicated his life to fighting against.
Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson...two names that in my opinion symbolize the values of an antichrist. They are men that preach hate and war while claiming to be men of God. How blind are the masses of Religous America that they cannot see through the bullshit of these figureheads. How can protestants allow such cruel men who perfectly antagonize Christian values represent the values they have cast aside?
The Religous Right needs to pull its head out of its ass and see that the current figureheads are Anti-Christs. They need to find leadership that strives towards the values and teachings of Christ.

But if they started actually following Christ, they would no longer be the religious right, since Christ was no right winger. (that being said, you couldn't actually fit his values into human political systems absolutely perfectly).
I really do think many of them have missed the point entirely.
Anywho, I might post more later. Great to see you back Hexadecimal - where were you?

Welcome back. This is something i've been saying for as long as i've been down with jesus. Some these snakes have been able to use their authority as biblical scholars to tell the rest of the christian world what values are "christian" and what values are not.
I recently heard a tele-preacher claim that environmentalists are pantheists (believe that nature is a diety)! Pantheists! God instructs us to be good stewards to this planet more times than he discourages homosexuality!
But that's how it works. These guys are able to say "god hates fags" and "god doesn't care about the environment" AND THEY GET AWAY WITH IT!!
It's mind blowing to me.
Oh yeah, and Jerry Fallwell is actively campaigning for Bush. @#%#$^##!! That man...has an adjenda, and it's got nothing to do with Christ.

Most of these types tend to fall into one of two categories.
A. They believe that it is their responsibility to be the 'right hand of God' - smiting the heathens and sinners, so to speak.
B. They have attained power and influence through politics and religion. Like most (if not all) humans, they will do anything to keep their grasp on power while never giving a damn about the morality and justice they often preach.
The sad reality is that people still follow these figureheads, despite the fact that they blatantly disregard their own supposed morality. They have become quite skilled in herding their sheep...
Not that all of you didn't already realize this... just adding my two cents for the hell of it.

My opinion of Buchannan was recently raised a few bars. The man wrote a book explaining how Bush and the Republican party no longer adhere to being conservative, and actively attacks him as such. It even claims that no respectable conservative should vote for Bush. It's a step in the right direction (no pun intended), and best of all, it's completely true. My favorite quote:
“[T]errorism is not a nation, a regime, or an army. Terrorism is a tactic, a technique, a weapon fanatics, dictators and warriors have resorted to through history. If...war is the continuation of politics by other means, terrorism is the continuation of war by other means.”

Yeah, i always thought that guy was a real jackass. I've heard him defend Nazis before, and when i see him on TV i disagree with 95% of what he says. But then all the sudden, he's starting to talk sense.

As if we needed more evidence that we;re living in the End Times.
I don't think that anyone who teaches about a hell is very peaceful.

I've only been gone a month and a half...so many welcomes in my return...I feel loved. http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)
The televangelist claiming that enviromentalists are pantheists is akin to calling Jews atheists. The religous right is fucked beyond belief. People must not be listening to what these jackasses are really saying; the RR is caught up in the show of leadership instead of paying attention to the makings and reality of it. I know this might offend a couple of Christians, but I honestly don't know how anybody who is a Christian could support ANY of the candidates we have for presidency, especially on the basis of religion.

Well, if I count as a Christian, then there is at least one of us who is certainly NOT offended.
The religious right are the modern equivalent of the pharisees.
I think this was a great little quote about the Pharisees:
Woe to the Pharisees, for they are like a dog lying in the manger of the cattle; for they neither eat nor do they let the cattle eat.
