i dont understand how anyone could believe such utter nonsence. why does this happen? what could possibly make them believe "thats the way it is"?
several people i know think that if you do anything considered "wrong" by a book compiled near the dawn of humanity as we know it,you will suffer for eternity in unspeakable ways.
these people also think some *white male* *rules* over a *finite* universe, with earth being the center of this finite universe, and the only planet to harbor life.
for those reasons alone,im beggining to think theres something wrong with them. some sort of mental disorder if you will. they feel a need to "follow a leader" and lack the ability to think for themselves.
on top of all of that,i have a cousin who thinks he is jesus christ. im not bahsing him or anything. hes a very cool person and all. but let me give you some of his logic.. "me and brad went to the mall today. he bought two "jesus is my buddy" T-shirts... im brads buddy.. dont you think that means something?" i shit you not, thats what he said, and thats how he thinks.
we're all still just monkeys when you think about it. if you look at human history,we've,as a people, always had to follow some sort of leader as a pack of wolves follows its alpha male. it seems logical that most people would like to think theres always going to be someone "in charge" of things. for me atleast,i dont like the idea. i think its just a primitive concept and we're much better off on our own.
i just dont understand it. its all so bizzare an nonesencical. when will humanity finally,as a race, evolve spirtualy?
the way i see the world just makes sence to me. i wont go into detail because there isnt any. i just "believe what i see". i know live is unending and there isnt some *guy* damming people to suffer forever for not doing "what he tells us".
im not saying im looking forward to it,but it will be nice when im chillin in "the afterlife" and i finally get to laugh in the face of a pushy religious fanactic.

Your final sentence kind of discredits your point. How can you laugh at the "cult" while believing in this cult's "afterlife"?
I do think that human's, as a species, must truly evolve. I was actually talking with a friend about spiritual evolution not even an hour ago. It started with the symbolism represented in 2001: a Space Odyssey.
In the begining the monkeys are monkeys, they do not know how to use tools or even how to kill for food. They have foroged everything, and turned the land barren. They will surely die. Then the monolith (represented "God" or "evolution" or whatever you want.) came upon them and the evolved to survive.
At the time this movie was made I believe the cold war was well under way, and mankind was(is) looking at it's end. Once again the monolith appears for man once again evolve or he will not survive. Then the dying man became this glowing fetus representing the evolved man, the ubermensch(I think).

i believe in AN afterlife. not their afterlife - heaven and hell.
afterlife was in quotations because im not sure how to reffer to it. its basicly the place our energy goes when our bodies die.

If you were to evolve into the state of energy you speak of why would you care to laugh? Why would you be "you"? Why would you seperate "you" from a "pushy religious fanatic" into two different entities?

all personal beliefs stated here are theoretical. im what youd probly call an open minded skeptic. call me agnostic if you want,i just cant believe some being would be what you could call "god" (god being something that is omnipotent and all knowing across all dimmesions and unvierses).

i believe when you die you retain all of the traits you have here aswell as your "seperateness" from other things/beings. now this is something i obviously cant say for sure, but i think when you die you can pretty much stay as you are,or reincarnate. if you do reincarnate i assume youd retain whatever traits you decide to keep, but aside from that you become something very different from what you were.
so when i die,if im right,i will be basicly the same as i am now and i will still take pleasure in the fact that someone who so agressivly pushed their believes has their little world shattered http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif). im not being evil here,i know life goes on and they will end up being just as happy as if they were right all along. i just dont very much like fanactics,be it homosexual, religous, political or otherwise. anyone who pushs their beliefs down my throat pisses me off in a big way. i dont care what anyone thinks as long as they dont preach it.

What plane of existence would the "self" be thrown into upon death? Without "life reality" to be in anymore where would this consciousness containing all of your traits reside?
People are just animals. What makes you think we're so different from them? I'm not trying to be a pain, but it still amazes me how much "different" people think we are.
If your cousin truly believes the Jesus thing and isn't just being weird and he's older than 8... then there's something wrong.
Having a leader can be good... imagine the amount of stress if there wasn't someone ruling the country. It would be fine if no other country had leaders, but until that point there would be good reason to constantly fear. People lack the capability to completely think for themselves. It may not even be that... sometimes you just get the urge to follow if things aren't working out as they stand. It's not necessarily bad, just how things are.
My deepest apologies for what's going on. My ex girlfriend was involved in a cult for a while... but she eventually got out of it. Maybe it's a phase? Usually when someone gets involved with something religious for hte first time, it's new and exciting and they take it to the extreme. Perhaps the problem will subside. Don't know what I'd do in your place, it's a hard position to be in. Try not to give up on them, but don't let yourself get too down about it.

I got the satire. Nobody has all the answers, that's why I ask, I pick up info from everywhere. Often I ask questions to make you think about what you're thinking about as well. I'm not trying to be an asshole, I'm trying to be confusing.
Confusion's good.

This is a scary cult. I think most of the members are perfectly normal. It's the leadership thats screwed up.
