Just interested in hearing the opinons of people on the use of feminine language when talking about God. I suppose this mostly applies to the xian tradition.
i.e. refering to God as 'she'
Depends on which god I'm talking about. Odin and Thor are obviously dudes, and Freya and Sif are obviously chicks.
I refer to them appropriately.

I believe God is neither female nor male, though I refer to him/her as both Schechinah (female word) and Adonai (male word).

Deity transcends gender.
Domesticated primates, however, get hung up on it.

Most of the old school religions were, in fact, based on goddesses. It has something to do with the hunter/gatherer relationship within society. I'm tired, I may elaborate further later.
Don't let The Da Vinci Code ruin your perceptions, Traffic. Chthonic earth cults came much later than the truly Traditional solar cults that held masculinity higher than femininity (though masculine energies are heightened by feminine integration - though not completely necessary).

I think labeling an unidentified entity as anything is a rather clear showing of man's general ignorance.
Do not misconstrue this to read that I think theists are the only ignorant people...everyone is ignorant, there's no other reasonable explanation as to why we never agree.
