View Full Version : How will we know what happens to us in the afterlife?

How will we know? Reading books that could contain distortions? Or projecting our minds deep within our spirits? Or are our bodies recycled - mind brainwashed, when we die?

Think it like a metaphor. What would happen if a couch potato fell out of his living room and got plopped at the starting lines of the olympics? He would be at the wrong place! He is fat, can't run well, and has to... RACE???

This is what I think happens to you in the afterlife. If you aren't spiritually developed - your concsiousness gets back into the circle of life - manifests itself as a baby, and loses its experiences.

Or, if a man is aware at a point that he can get hold of this state - he might be able to travel around in the nothingness. Remember, an article on this site says that people have communicated with the dead with this radio. They said the dead said they live here - on Earth (invisible to us) - and do not know time or place. Lastly, this guy claimed to have been contacted by a ghost that said the afterlife is cold, and there is a gap between life and relife. That ghost said he is trying to help save the earth from some kind of disaster.

Or, what if we are as inanimate as a computer? What if we are computers - and our consciousness is an operating system controlled by neurons and random processes. This makes sense... but I have a feeling that operating system is controlled by a user - the soul - which contains the spirit.

Aliens could know more about death - and all that shit - but can aliens mislead us? Angels/Gods can deceive people easy - so why not aliens?

Finally, what if life is a test we have to pass so we can graduate "whatever" and go to the other side? Let us say we are a species that needs to learn EXPERIENCES and practise GOODWILL - and choose between good and evil? After this meaningless life, we awake. How meaningless is the universe? If HTML is the universe - SGML is the true reality.

Do you guys have any other ideas?

What if I could show you in black and white what will happen to us after we die? Would you be interested?

I would be. There's no way you could know though, and you're probably gonna post a stupid picture that you think is funny.

We can never really know anything about the after life until we die. Anything other than that is blind faith.

The afterlife is going to be a paradise. We've going to have the wonderful pleasure of rotting in our coffins until we turn into dust. http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif)

It depends which religion you follow and what that religion informs you.

For example, Muslims believe this life to be a mere examination hall and are preparing for the after life. Such as doing well and on the day of judgement they will get the marks and if the 'scale' is heavier on their good side they will go to Paradise , yet if the scale is light on their good deeds then a terrible fate awaits them. Each person who did bad things gets equally punished to the bad things they did.

The thing is, take Hitler for an example. He slaughtered 6 million jews, the punishment that a human can give him is not enough in this life-therefore, he recieves an 'eternal' punishment in the afterlife for his terrible sin.

Suppose you do good all your life, but it's not acknowledged, however- it WILL be acknowledged in the afterlife.

"Whosoever does an atoms weight of good shall see it, and whosoever does an atoms weight of bad shall see it."

(Verse and chapter will be clarified later :\)

no one can know what happens when you die, because when you die, you find out and then you're dead so you cant tell anyone about it! there's loads of different things that people believe happen, some believe that you just go round and start all over again, you might just rot away and nothing happen, you might go to heaven/hell, you might linger as a ghost, you might run towards a light and carry on someplace else, some ppl have really complicated beliefs...

I, personally, hope to never find out. My bet is on nothingness though. http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif)

Someone's religion has nothing to do with what will happen after they die. Belief in something does not make it true.

Sounds a lot like the ancient Egyptian belief about the weighing of the heart before entering the afterlife.

Coincidence?

I forgot all about that tradition. I LOVE them Egyptians. They knew how to give their crazy cult culture some STYLE!

Not really- in the Qur'an it says that a messenger/warner was sent to every nation, therefore the concept of God is more or less still alive even though it may differ.

But I suppose there is always a tradition/concsiousness that if you do good in life maybe you get a reward and if you do bad in life you get a punishment.

I agree entirely with what you're saying- but a believer will base their opinion on the teachings. But it does not necassarily make it true.

What dies? Is one atom lost? Who and what are we? If one was to mentally dissect the body, which part is the 'I'? What dies? How can being become non-being? How can non-being become being? How does something come from nothing, become something, and then return to nothingness?

Perhaps some answers are not able to be known in this life.
