It's a great read and it is sure to enlighten. Would be interested in listening to people's intellegent thoughts after having read it.

What the hell? :S
I love that book, its somewhere between a religion disguised as a joke, and a joke disguised as a religion.
If you want a headache, try and take it seriously, as if it contained some sort of hard fact.

Oh, I had already read it though.
I really want to get hold of a paper copy.
Edit: In fact, multiple paper copies.
I can use them like Chick tracts. http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif)

It just seemed like a fantasy model for an RPG.

Yeam... sure. Moving on.
You can order it from any Bookstore and its' only like $8 or $10 dollars.
The Principia is written as a joke, but the "points" that are meant to be taken seriously are discovered through the irony and sarcasm scattered throughout the bits here and there. The most important thing to remember, is that the worst thing you can do is to take either yourself or your religion seriously.

PD is in my knowledge a ciritcism of both monism and pluralism in form of a joke...
But it's quite amusing.

In part yes. It is a criticism of more than that, it is also an affirmation of a lifestyle, of a sense of lightheartedness.

I actually belong to the First Discordian Church of West Chester.
Although it's still in the "cult phase".
Let go of my Golden Apple.

There are many such evil products handed to unsuspecting consumers. I consider this example to be a metaphor comparing what you "eat" in the form of food and what you "eat" as truth.
You have to be careful what you expose yourself to. Just cause hotdogs come in a pretty package doesnt mean its going to taste good or do you good.
Hot dogs come in packeges of 8, but the buns come in packages of 6. How f*cked is that?
Thats part of what I gather from the teachings.

Wouldn't it be crazy to fast forward 2000 years, and have the PD be like the bible.
And have it be a huge thing, a la christianity.
With churches and missionaries and everything, that would be crazy.

The Principia Discordia has been on of the major influences on my own personal philosophy (itself a pastiche of Dada theory, postmodernism and absurdist existentialism).
Mr Monomoto, famous Japanese, can swallow his nose.
It's gloriously stupid. All of it. And that's why it's beautiful.
