In my Composition class we are working on an Argumentative Persuasive research paper. The topic I chose was trying to convince people to join a cult. (May or may not be my actual feeling, but it gave me a good, controversial topic for my paper.)
Anyway, I am in need of help of finding Bible verses that are easily manipulated into supporting cults, or cult activity.
Example: "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21
This verse may be easily twisted to condone cult suicide.
This verse is the only one I know of of this sort. Any others would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. To all you Christians, or otherwise: I mean this in no disrespect whatsoever. And although I am not affiliated with any religion, I have a great deal of respect for them. This is only in the interest of my grade, and in no way is meant to bash your religion, God, or otherwise.
