This chapter sounds really boring...

1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness after his image; and called his

name Seth.

I got it mixed up in the last chapter, I'm sorry. Stupid mistake, just a little dyslexic. Cain didn't kill Adam, he just

killed Abel, and Lamech is implied to have killed Cain.

Blarg, okay.

So, Adam was 130yrs when he had Seth.

4 And the days of Adam, after he had begotten Seth, were eight hundred years; and he begat sons and daughters.

Adam - 800yrs old when he had other sons and daughters.

5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.

Adam - 930yrs - died.

6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos.

Seth - 105yrs

7 And Seth lived, after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.

8 And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.

Seth - 912yrs - died

9 And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:

Enos - 90yrs - has Cainan

10 And Enos lived, after he begat Cainan, eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

11 And all the days of Enose were nine hundred and five years: and he died.

Enos - 905yrs - died

12 And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:

Cainan - 70 - has Mahalaleel

13 And Cainan lived, after he begat Mahalaleel, eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughter:

14 And all the day of Cainan were 910 years: and he died.

Cainan - 910yrs - died

15 And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared:

16 And Mahalaleel lived, after he begat Jared, eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:

17 And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.

Mahalaleel - 895yrs - died

18 And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

19 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

20 And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.

Jared - 962yrs - died

21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years and begat Methuselah:

22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

What do you think it means he "walks with God"?

23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

I have no idea what this might mean. Any ideas?

25 And Methuselah live an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech:

26 And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:

27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

Methuselah - 969yrs - died

28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:

29 And he called his name Noah, saying This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because

of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.

30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years: and he died.

31 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy seven years, and he died.

Lamech - 777yrs - died

32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japeth.

I apologize for the poor editing. I'm still trying to find a system for writing this out.

I made a point of writing down the ages of death, but I wanted to make a list, simply of the numbers specified, for

those of you interested in biblical numerical codes. I've never been too interested in that aspect of the bible, but the way they specifically state the different ages sort of leads to wondering if it isn't some kind of code.

Adam - 130

800

930

Seth - 105

807

912

Enos - 90

815

905

Cainan - 70

840

910

Mahalaleel - 65

830

895

Jared - 162

800

962

Enoch - 65

300

365

Methuselah - 187

782

969

Lamech - 182

595

777

Noah - 500

Remember this was originally written in hebrew (I believe, possibly aramaic, but I'm pretty sure it was hebrew) and in the hebrew alphabet each letter also stood for a number. I'f my memory serves me correct the hebrew alphabet goes:

aleph - 1

bet - 2

gimmel - 3

daleth - 4

hey - 5... etc...

Cheers,

Lost

i cannot recall where i read it, but i seem to remember that hebrew "numbers" were actually three different kinds of numbers, and it was understood from context as to which "numbering system" was intended.

Does anyone else have some insight to this?
